Some better pics of the baby barn owl out trying his wings for probably the first time. You can see his downy feathers on his back so he should have probably waited a bit longer.... but he was doing okay. He got back pretty close to where his home is and his momma flew out so I know he's in good hands.

Had an interesting event today here on Hamblin Acres. I had the dogs in the Bark Park. When it was time to go in I whistled loud so they knew. When I did, I scared an owl out of a tree above me. I realized right away it was a barn owl but also quickly realized it was having a hard time flying... because it was a baby!! I went to check to make sure it was okay. You can see the downy feathers on him still so probably a tad bit early to be out trying it on his own... but he was doing okay.

Came out early this morning to find the full moon still hanging in the sky so I zoomed in with my 30x zoom on my phone. Pretty amazing that technology has come far enough for that kind of clarity with simply a cell phone camera.

Repurposed a bird feeder (total fail as a bird feeder) by attaching it to a post and adding solar-powered fairy lights.
