We talk a lot about what athletes need. But some of the best mental performance work happens off the field, in the car ride home, from a parent who gets it.

The parents who ask, “What did you notice?” instead of “What went wrong?” The ones who never let a stat sheet decide how proud they are. The ones who know that “I love watching you play” does more for a kid’s confidence than any postgame breakdown ever will.

These aren’t grand gestures. They’re small, repeatable habits, and they shape how a kid relates to sport for the rest of their life.

If you’re a parent who does even one of these, keep going. It’s working. 🥹

Nerves aren’t the problem. Where you point them is.

Most athletes try to get rid of pre-game nerves. Wrong move. The nerves aren’t going anywhere but you get to choose what they’re attached to.

Control what’s yours. Let the rest go. 🎯

The scariest part of a comeback isn’t the injury. It’s trusting your body again after it let you down once.

That’s the work nobody talks about. 💪

A police officer in Toledo, Ohio, noticed something most people never admit: in high-stress situations, he lost control of his own mind. Tunnel vision. No reasoning. Common sense out the window.

So he built a drill. He played police sirens for 5–10 minutes and practiced box breathing: 4 in, hold 4, 4 out, until calm became his body’s automatic response to chaos.

We read about this officer in Amanda Ripley’s book The Unthinkable: Who Survives When Disaster Strikes — and Why. The book is about how people respond under extreme stress and what separates those who keep their heads from those who don’t.

Your game has its own version of the siren. The championship point. The penalty kick. The final at-bat. The question isn’t whether pressure is coming... It’s whether you’ve practiced your response to it.

Swipe for 5 ways to simulate your pressure moment and train your nervous system before it counts.

Nearly half of athletes complete the physical recovery and never make it back.

The mental game of ACL recovery is just as demanding as the physical… and it deserves just as much attention.

Your team just learned something about seconds. 🍫🍬🟡

We did a simple candy activity... Snickers, Starburst, and Mini M&Ms... each representing a day, hours, and seconds. One number was randomly selected. One candy group covered it.

Spoiler: the M&Ms team almost always wins.

Why? Because seconds are the most abundant resource you have. There are 86,400 of them every single day, and because there are so many, they’re the easiest to waste.

But what if you didn’t?

What if you used 20 seconds between reps to reset your mindset?
What if you used 20 seconds to get in one more rep?
What if you used 20 seconds to give your teammates a high five?

Those tiny moments that feel too small to matter are actually your biggest opportunity for growth.

The teams that use their time, even the seconds, improve the most.

Follow for more tools to sharpen your mental game. 💪
