⚠️ This is a test for enterococcus, an indicator of E. coli. Samples are collected Thursday mornings at the Sylvan Shores Beach. We follow EPA guidelines and the recommended threshold of 104cfu/100mL for recreational swimming.

🌊 MEET THE COACH: Brigette Carhart 🌊

Brigette brings experience, patience, humor, and a true passion for water safety to every swimmer she teaches 💙

As an Aquatics Instructor for Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Brigette has been teaching the 5th Grade Water Ready Program since 2021 — helping students of ALL swimming abilities gain confidence and critical water safety skills.

From deep water swimmers to beginners, Brigette teaches:
✔️ Personal water safety
✔️ Lifejacket skills
✔️ Cold water survival
✔️ Water rescues

One of the things we love most about Brigette is her ability to connect with every child. Through Water Ready, she has worked with students of all learning styles, abilities, neurodiversity, and disabilities — always leading with kindness, encouragement, and a healthy dose of humor 😊

During the summer, Brigette teaches swim lessons for K-5 students at Arlington Echo Summer Swim Camps and lifeguards for the non-swimming camps as well.

Her certifications include:
🏊 Red Cross WSI Certified Instructor
🚨 Red Cross Certified Lifeguard
💦 Licensed Pool Operator

And when she’s not teaching? She’s busy with her husband, two high school sons, and one swim-loving dog 🐾

This year, Brigette is also training for the Great Chesapeake Bay Swim — a 4.4 mile swim across the Bay! 🌉👏

We’re so lucky to have her as part of the team!
