Dear fishing enthusiast,
Why use wood lures?
In the early 1900s, when fishing turned from a way of providing food into a gentleman's recreational sport, lures were handmade, hand-carved, one at a time. Care was taken in their craftsmanship. Each lure, in a way, was a small piece of artwork.
When the molding of hard plastics entered the fishing lure industry, wood lures disappeared, beaten out by the mass production of factories. Quantity became more important than the quality.
I believe in that missing quality, and I try very hard to ensure that each one of my lures displays the care and dedication of the passion I have in creating them. Colors and patterns can be customized to your requests or specifications.
Solid wood lures will be heavier than what most fishermen are used to, so take care in casting them - their benefit and their curse is the same: they cast very far.
If you've purchased a popper...
My poppers are intentionally designed to float somewhat sideways, and there is a reason for it. In my years of observations, I have never seen a dying or struggling baitfish sit upright and perfectly balanced in the water column, or on the surface. My poppers mimic the moments before a baitfish goes belly up. When they're 'popped' they come alive! Walking the dog motions with them can be done fast or slowly.
I thank you for your purchase, and do hope that you enjoy the creations that I've built. If you feel that there is something wrong with the quality of your purchase, please email me at:
