DRUM ROLL................. and we have a brand new Trap Shoot Champion Duke Lamb. Congratulations to Duke, who beat our prior 4 year in a row champion Caleb Harris. Duke's name will be added to our Club Trophy and proudly displayed in the Clubhouse. Thanks to everyone that took part in the competition, it was a fun day!!

The Pre-Season Rooster Shoots are a fun event to get you and your dogs revved up for the new season. Ricky Acosta with his pups Fancy and Piper and Jim Shaw with Sadie had a great time in the fields this week. The Rooster Shoots are $175/4 Birds and $375/10 Birds. Spaces are limited so please call and make a reservation so that the Club can make sure we have enough birds to accommodate you!!

It was a “Vizsla weekend” at Hastings Island Hunting Preserve!

We enjoyed having a great group of Vizsla enthusiasts out at the Club last weekend, getting in some field training with two 11-week-old puppies, Chip and Louise. There’s nothing quite like watching young dogs start putting all that enthusiasm and instinct to work in the field!

Natasha and Don Daniel had a fantastic chukar hunt at Hastings Island Hunting Preserve on Saturday, bringing home 12 birds out of their 10-bird hunt! Great shooting and a memorable day in the field.

Our chukar hunts are not only fun, but they’re also a great way to prepare yourself and your dog for the upcoming pheasant hunting season. Chukar hunts are available now, so come enjoy the challenge and get ready for the season. Eric Olsen (with his dog, Rusty) and Andrew Van Zant (with his dog, Rebel) enjoyed a warm, sunny day at Hastings Island Hunting Preserve this past Saturday, exercising and training their dogs over chukar. Dog training with chukar is an effective and fun way to keep your dog active while sharpening both their skills and yours for the upcoming pheasant hunting season.

A Father and Son Fun Day at Hastings Island

Harry, Ray (member), and Lochlan Lehner enjoying a great father-and-son day out at the trap, filled with clays, laughter, and plenty of father-and-son fun! It was the perfect way to spend quality time together, enjoy some friendly competition, and make the most of a beautiful day at the Club.

Three smiles and a whole lot of field time! Nothing beats a beautiful day outside working with a couple of good bird dogs. Dan Gifford with dogs Lucy and Nikki were out enjoying some time in the field this past weekend, getting in some training and exercise ahead of the upcoming season.

Always great to see handlers and dogs making the most of the Club, putting in the work, and enjoying every minute out in the field.

This past weekend, we saw a number of hunters getting their dogs ready for another great season at Hastings Island Hunting Preserve!

Left photo: Member Jim Nicolette is putting in some field time with Elke and Patsy. Twice the work and twice the fun! These two are getting some valuable training and exercise as they get ready for hunting season.

Right photo: Brian Graham and his dog Shane are also taking advantage of some time in the field, getting in some training and exercise before another great season begins.

It’s always great to see dogs and handlers back in the field, putting in the work and enjoying what Hastings Island is all about.
