🥈2nd place in our first travel 14u tournament 🔥🖤🩶🤍

We headed down to Las Cruces this weekend to start our second year of 12U, but this time we decided to challenge the girls by playing in the 14U division.

We knew there would be struggles and adjustments playing against older girls, and that’s exactly what we wanted.

After starting 0-2 in pool play and losing a tough 4-3 game early in bracket play, we found ourselves in the losers bracket. From there, our girls just kept battling.

They won 6-4 to get us into Sunday, then came back the next day and won 10-0, 14-4 and 11-5 to fight their way into the championship game.

By that point, they had already played 8 games in the heat and were running on fumes. We came up short in the championship, but walked away with a second place finish in our first out-of-town 14U tournament.

One thing we always talk about with the girls is being comfortable with being uncomfortable. We challenge them physically and mentally in practice because eventually they’re going to find themselves in situations where things aren’t easy.

My message to them at the plate against the older girls all weekend was simple:

“Challenge yourself.”

And they did.

We don’t expect to win just because we show up. Winning comes from putting in the work, competing and learning how to respond when things don’t go your way.

This weekend we got to watch our girls struggle, adjust and keep competing.

The sky is the limit for this group.

This weekend was another reminder of who we are and what we believe in.

We finished the 18U State Championship 6-3… with a 14U team.

We’ve never been interested in taking the easy path. We actively seek out the best competition because that’s where growth happens. Championships are great, but becoming better players, better teammates, and better young women is what matters most.

This weekend we earned wins against programs we’ve been chasing for a while. Those victories weren’t just about the scoreboard—they were proof that the countless hours of work, sacrifice, and belief are paying off.

Standing in the championship game with such a young team was something we’ll never forget. Across from us was, in my opinion, one of the best teams New Mexico has produced in quite some time. Competing against a program of that caliber is exactly why we choose these opportunities.

A sincere thank you to the Wicked coaches, players, and parents. You have set the standard for what high-level softball looks like in our state—not just with your talent, but with the way you respect the game, compete with class, and represent your program. We tip our cap to you and thank you for an incredible weekend of battles. The Wicked

Could we have stayed in our own 14U division and likely faced less resistance? Maybe. But that has never been our goal. We’d rather be challenged than comfortable. We’d rather find our weaknesses now than protect an undefeated record. Growth has always been more valuable than trophies.

To our girls: I couldn’t be more proud.

You competed with courage. You handled adversity with composure. You represented your families, your teammates, and this organization with character. More importantly, you showed a level of maturity well beyond your years.

The scoreboard will eventually fade, but the lessons you learned this weekend won’t. Keep chasing greatness, stay humble, and continue embracing the hard road.

Our standard is the standard.

🥇Undefeated Champions! We spent the weekend in Flagstaff, AZ competing in the 4th of July Fireworks Alliance Tournament, and these girls showed up in every way possible!

Throughout the weekend, parents, coaches, and even umpires took the time to compliment not only our talent, but the way our team carried themselves on and off the field. That speaks volumes about these incredible young ladies.

Our coaching staff couldn’t be prouder of this group. Your hard work, determination, teamwork, and heart continue to set you apart.

FAMILY we are. TOGETHER we can. CHAMPIONS we will be. 🖤🩶🤍

Colorado Sparkler 2026 is in the books, and what an experience it was.

We finished 4-3 and earned our way into the Gold Bracket, competing against some of the best 14U teams in the country. We don’t shy away from challenges—we actively seek them. That’s where growth happens, and every game gave us another opportunity to test ourselves against elite competition.

One of the most memorable moments came in an incredible battle that lasted 9 innings and 2 hours, 45 minutes, a game that demanded toughness, resilience, and heart from every player on the field.

Our offense showed plenty of power throughout the week, launching 6 home runs:
🥎 Mila Gonzales (2029) – 3 HR
🥎 Lilli Gomez (2029) – 2 HR
🥎 Dylan Deswood (2030) – 1 HR

We’re also incredibly proud that Dylan Deswood, Lilli Gomez, Sophia Gomez, and Brooklyn Quanz were selected to participate in the 14U All-American Games. That’s a tremendous accomplishment and a testament to the work they’ve put in.

One of the highlights of the week was getting to watch our sister team, Athletics Mercado/Smith, compete. It was a privilege to watch some of the best players in the country, and we’re honored to be part of an organization that continues to develop Power 4-caliber talent and sets the standard for excellence.

This tournament challenged us, exposed areas where we can improve, and reminded us why we chase the best competition available. We leave Colorado better than we arrived, and that’s exactly the goal.

Now it’s time to finish our summer season strong. The work continues.

Our Standard is the Standard. 🖤🥎

Another great weekend of softball in Farmington for our 14 Athletics Mercado-Gonzales. Playing up at 18U, our girls battled all weekend and brought home a 3rd place finish. More importantly, we played quality softball and continued preparing for what’s ahead.
Next week, we head back to 14U and onto The Sparkler, where we’ll have the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the country. That’s exactly where we want to be.
We’re always chasing the next loss against elite competition, because that’s where growth happens. Sometimes you find those losses, and sometimes you find out you can compete. Either way, you get better.
The standard is the standard. Excited for the week ahead. 🖤🥎

A weekend to remember! The notorious Goliath 8gg in Lubbock TX. Our 12u AM-Garcia girls played 10 games in total, making it to the Gold bracket for their third year in a row! Finished top 5 out of 36 teams and were the youngest team to be in the Gold bracket. Our girls battled against some amazing talent out in WTX as well as playing in hot, humid conditions for 3 days. Every game was a challenge mentally and physically! We are extremely proud of this group for girls!!

We want to congratulate our Athletics Mercado 2031 sisters from San Antonio TX on their first place finish! Thank you again for supporting our girls throughout the weekend! FAMILY we are. TOGETHER we can. CHAMPIONS we will be!

Next stop, Flagstaff! 🇺🇸
