Today I had the pleasure of attending the 90th Birthday Party of Coach Jane Carper. During Coach Carper's 32 year teaching/coaching career she started multiple sports programs at Auburn High School including Indoor/Outdoor Track, Cross Country, Tennis, Gymnastics and she started Volleyball in 1966. She was a strong advocate for female athletes at Auburn and often coached without compensation until 1972 when the federal governorment passed the Title IX law. On behalf of all the former and current Auburn Volleyball players and coaches we thank Coach Carper for paving the way for us all. Happy 90th Birthday Coach Carper!
