I had someone tell me recently that something I said to them pulled them out of a really dark hole.
I had no idea.
To me, it was just a normal conversation. They told me they were having trouble getting to the gym, having trouble working out, having trouble getting motivated⌠just feeling stuck.
What I didnât know was that they were going through some real stuff. They were getting depressed. They were slipping deeper. And the less they moved, the worse they felt.
So I told them the truth.
âI know itâs hard. But you have to show up.â
The difference between people who do things and people who donât is usually not motivation.
Itâs not a perfect plan.â¨Itâs not waiting until life gets easier.
The difference is simple:
Some people actually do the damn thing.
Working out does not require motivation.
It requires discipline.
You donât need to be fired up to walk through the door.â¨You donât need to feel amazing.â¨You donât need to be in the mood.
You need to show up especially when you donât want to.
That is where the win is.
I told them, âStop overthinking it. Get to the gym. Just go. Stop being a P$ #@! and get to the gym.â
Apparently, that helped.
So if youâre reading this and you feel stuck, heavy, unmotivated, or like youâre digging yourself into a hole, hereâs your sign:
Get 3 workouts in.
Not perfect workouts.â¨Not beast-mode workouts.â¨Not movie montage workouts with dramatic lighting and thunder in the background.
Just 3 workouts.
Even if theyâre half-assed.
Walk in. Lift something. Move around. Sweat a little. Drink water. Eat something decent after. Thats itâŚone down.
Honestly? Screw ur motivation!
Motivation is unreliable. Motivation is a flaky friend who says theyâre coming and then ghosts you.
Discipline shows up.
So get up. Get moving. Get back in the gym.
You may not feel like doing it.
Do it anyway.
