To All Football and Wrestler Parents. RHS Head Highschool Football and Wrestling Coach (Torre Watson) will be at this Thursday's Junior Football Practice to speak to the boys and their parents the benefits of wrestling to success in football. 6:15pm is the time. Please encourage other parents to come and discover what you already know.

Register 3-8 grade Wrestling. If your child is below 3rd grade, don't worry. He can still join (just ignore what it says). Your wrestler should have wrestling shoes, headgear and water for each session.

If you are an experienced high school-aged wrestler looking to hone your skills on the mat, our accomplished and accredited staff can help you refine techniques to compete on the next level.

Hi All. As a follow-up to my post yesterday about Pre-Season training. The RHS asst. coaches decided to open up a separate session from their high school wrestlers. It's still Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Y, but from 4-5pm (before the high school session). Please refer to my previous post for all other details.

Dear RJW Family. We are excited to begin the new wrestling season. It will be here before you know it. We have a great opportunity to announce. The Ridgewood High School wrestling program is running off season training at our local YMCA and they have invited the junior wrestling team to participate. The sessions are run by the assistant coaches of the high school team. This is an exceptional way to get your kids in "wrestling mode" prior to the season. The sessions will start on 10/15. They will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6:30 and will include a total of 10 sessions. The approximate cost is $200. Please email me at [email protected] no later than 10/10 if you are ready and committed to sign your child up. Include your name, your child's name, age and approximate weight, email address, and phone number. I will ensure you get a link to register directly with the YMCA. We believe these pre-season practices will greatly benefit your wrestler.

RJW 2023-24 Season Kick Off! We are a few short weeks away from kicking off the 2023-2024 season. See below for more information.

First Practice:
Advanced - Tuesday, November 21st @ 7:30 pm
Dog Pound/Intermediate - Tuesday, November 28th @ 6:30 pm

Which practice should your wrestler attend?

Please understand that the groupings listed below are guidance that RJW will use to organize the program in the first few weeks. As the coaches assess the wrestler’s skill, the coaching staff may recommend that your wrestler move to a different group to get the best experience for your wrestler based on their skill level.

**For all first-year wrestlers please attend the Dog Pound/Intermediate Practice**

Dog Pound: K - 4th Grade with no experience, or 1-2 years of experience.
Intermediate: 5th - 8th Grade or a minimum of 2 years of wrestling experience.
Advanced: ages 10 and up with a minimum of 3 years of wrestling experience.

Practice Days & Times:

Tuesdays & Thursdays: Dog Pound/Intermediate: 6:30 – 7:30pm / Advanced 7:30 – 9:00 pm

Saturdays: Dog Pound/Intermediate – 1:00 – 2:00pm / Advanced 2:00 – 3:30 pm

(Please note that Saturday practices will not be held when a rec meet is scheduled)

Equipment:

Wrestling Shoes, Wrestling Headgear, and a water bottle with your wrestler’s name on it.

Registration is now open for the 2023 - 2024 season!

RJW is a recreational program for Ridgewood children in grades K-8. The goal is to teach the sport of wrestling in a fun & safe environment and to provide competition that is appropriate for each child's skill level. Our program is designed for all kids - whether they are new to sports, a skilled athlete, or an accomplished wrestler.
