Mountain Laurel Trails Mountain Bike and Hiking Trail Project:

Since 2013, Landowner Bob Norris has been collaborating with other trail builders and Mountain Biking enthusiasts in Southwest Virginia to develop a trail system off of Horsepasture Price Road in Henry County VA. This trail system is located on over 100 acres of private land with negotiations with other large tract joining land owners

to develop one of the largest Mountain Bike and hiking areas in the area. Close to 10 miles of hand and machine constructed singletrack trails are almost complete and based on a stacked-loop design. The 4 mile Central Loop is the "core" trail that all other optional trails are connected. Many of the trails border creeks and water while others meander through the woods or ridge-tops. These trails were specifically designed to appeal to all skill levels, beginner to advanced. It remains a work-in-progress, with signage, maps, parking lot facilities (outhouse/information board), along with optional technical trail features like skinnys and rock gardens that are in the planning. If you would like to join the trail team or just come out and walk/run/ride contact Bob Norris @ 1-276-340-9144 for information.

Trails are officially closed, it was a good run

Sorry to say due to lack of interest and help the trails will be closing permanently in September 2024

There have been reports of horses on the trails and the trails are not designed for that.

Only traffic should be hiking and biking

The bridges are not built to withstand the load of horses.

We will be monitoring this situation and please report any sightings.

Ok peeps, I hope your summer is going good. With fall approaching it's gonna be a good time to ride!

Several of the trail adoption participants have dropped out leaving several opportunities to give back.

1.Red trail down to the swimming hole.
2. Bobs brutal from the swimming hole up to the top.
3. Section 9 on the yellow trail.

These sections are about a mile and a half each.

If anyone would like to help with the trail please contact Bob Norris or Shane McPeak.

Thank you to all the volunteers for keeping the trail open

Special thanks to Mark D for keeping black and blue open and clear

Ok Peeps we’ll be adding available sections to adopt over the next week or so. Once they are adopted with will post the Names and contact information for each adopter.

Thanks goes out to Mark Du for all his hard work getting Black and Blus in shape. He made a cool ride over feature our of a downed tree. Also he did a ton of w**deating on the bottom by the creek. I appreciate everyone who donates their time and labor keeping the trails in shape for everyone to use.

Just an update on trail work. Andy Phillips came out today and mowed several areas that had overgrown. We still have a couple of trees near Jennings Cabin that need a chainsaw. The group that had originally signed up to be responsible for a section has dwindled, life happens. Even I was out for six months due to health reasons, I get it. If there is anyone that would be willing to step in and assist it takes a team not just three or four folks, too much work for that small of a group. We have been incredibly blessed to have this place to use for all these years. This is also the second time that Bob Norris has talked about shutting the trails down. Folks this may be our last chance to turn this around or I am afraid we will lose the trails completely. He cannot do all this himself and most of us aren’t spring chickens anymore. If someone feels like they want to pitch in message me Shane McPeek and we can talk about it. Thanks again to everyone that has come out this week to work, now let’s get out there and ride or hike!

There was a great deal of work done this morning. Justin and Shane w**d eated pretty much everything. The field, Green to the jump line, Red along the creek and Yellow along the creek. 4 trees were cut and removed. There are still a few on Yellow near Jennings Cabin that we didn’t get due to running out of time. If anyone one else wants to jump in and help please let us know.
