First 70 degree paddle for 2026. 8 miles to make sure we still had what it takes to paddle in the heat!

Jenny, Emerson and I got in a nice middle distance paddle to try and recapture the “feel of the water” which has disappeared after a month of dry land (or not so dry) training. My shoulders felt tired and I felt a bit clumsy in the boat. I might have to factor in being a year older doesn’t help….. not an excuse.

42 degrees light winds and sunny made the 7 mile paddle enjoyable. Changing out of my drysuit still a tiring process. Definitely worth the effort.

Rain and wind for our first-paddle-in-a-month paddle but enjoyable nonetheless. The thick fields of ice are gone with some stray clumps floating around waiting to punch holes in your hull if you’re not attentive. Thank god for my training partner Emerson! By myself I would have had another piece of choclate chip pound cake with a cup of coffee and looked out the window.
