We broke more targets than we did in the qualifier but slipped to 23rd. Seven targets separated 1-23. We shoot five hundred targets so that is literally 1.4% difference.

Think about that for a moment. Out of all the teams in this league that participated this year, literally coast to coast, little ol’ North Union is inside the top 25. That is incredible and as I said…that is elite!! You can be proud of these shooters!!!

Good luck to Levi, Will, and Westley who will be shooting for individual honors.

We qualified three individuals into the finals tomorrow. Westley Thompson, Levi Baer and Will Skriletz each broke 98 and will shoot as individuals. They will also shoot on the five man squad along with Nathan Jones and Ryan Staley.

We had many scores in the 90’s. The boys (all male this year) shot well.

One of the things that I am very proud of as the coach of these boys is that over the course of the last several days I have had several strangers come up to me who have remarked about the conduct and sportsmanship of our shooters. They had absolutely nothing to gain by doing that but felt like they wanted me to know how well our kids represent our district. I have to admit those moments brought the warm fuzzies to my heart! We have great coaches who hold our shooters to high standards not just as athletes but even more so as people. North Union you should be proud of these boys because they are good human beings who do our district and its families proud.

Tomorrow is a big day. I know that many of you will be cheering from afar but rest assured…North Union traveled well for this event!!!

Our squad of Levi Baer, Ryan Staley, Will Skriletz, Westley Thompson and Nathan Jones put up a score of 476/500. Finished 14th in the team qualifier. Ironically, the only Ohio team that finished ahead of us is the team that beat us at state. North Union is in the national conversation!!! Top 80 qualify for Sunday so we will be shooting on Sunday. Scores reset for that day.

We finished in second place by two birds. That score represents 490 out of 500. Our previous best was 479 out of 500. We point toward the state tournament every year. We had numerous PR’s set today. I will post more in the coming days. I am exhausted…but thank you shooters, families, coaches and sponsors!! We won this award because it is truly a group effort.

We had a great last practice before states. Had several scores in mid to high nineties. Ryan Staley got his first 50 straight, proceeded to make that a 75 straight and ended with a personal record 97. Congrats Ryan.

We shoot Sunday at Black Wing for states. Opening ceremony at 8 and we commence shooting at 9.
