Welcome back Miss. Imani!

Miss. Imani (Mani) is rejoining the Dance Center for the 2022-2023 season, but this time in Rotterdam! Learn more about her below!

Mani has been choreographing, dancing, singing, and acting professionally in the Capitol Region for the past 6 years. She studied Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop as well as Theater all throughout her younger years as well as high school!

Mani’s mother was a dancer so she has been dancing since before she could walk! Since she could walk she’s been twirling and leaping through life in shows, dance competitions, and dance crews. She started focusing on choreography in high school and since then she’s worked on countless shows, workshops, and competition dance pieces.

Dancing is Mani’s passion and movement is prominent in every aspect of her life. She has taught ages as young as 5 and has worked with middle aged adults! She thoroughly enjoyed teaching hiphop at the
location last season and is excited to teach again!

Welcome Miss Haley!

Miss. Haley has been a gymnastics coach at Twist n' Flip and is going to start teaching dance classes at The Dance Center at Rotterdam starting this Fall! Read below to learn more about the wonderful Miss Haley.

Hi, my name is Haley. I am 16 years old and I am going into my junior year at Schalmont High School. I have been a dancer since I was 3 years old and I have been dancing competitively for 10 years. Outside of dance, I also play volleyball and I am on the track and field team. My favorite color is pink and my favorite animal is a sloth. I have three younger siblings, Paiton, Grayson and Delanie, and I love spending time with my family.

Welcome Miss. Karla!

We are excited to announce Miss. Karla as The Dance Center at Glenmont's newest dance instructor! She can't wait to offer new dance classes in Glenmont starting in September. Learn more about Miss. Karla below.

Karla Karpowicz is a lifelong dancer (starting at age 4) and is passionate about bringing the love of dance to all ages. Shortly after she began assisting classes in 1998, Karla knew that teaching dance was fuel for her soul. She went on to earn her BA from Lehman College in the Bronx and her MA from Columbia College Chicago. She has taught in various studio settings for both recreational and competitive programs, as well as with companies, groups, and research projects. Karla was a competitive dancer and has danced professionally in both New York City and Chicago, being part of large scale site specific works and small intimate events. Teaching up to pregnancy and the pandemic, she is very excited to be back in the studio bringing her love for dance to The Dance Center; and looks forward to helping new and seasoned dancers grow. Aside from teaching, Karla is a Dance/Movement Therapist, yoga instructor, Reiki Master, and the owner/director of a creative arts psychotherapy group practice. She lives in Albany with her husband, daughter, and family cat.

Next week June 6th - 10th is dress rehearsal week at Cobleskill Dance Center! All dancers please arrive to class in costume with hair and make up performance ready. Can't wait to see you all!

We are super excited to introduce you to Caley Lacey. Caley will be joining Ms. Alyssa as an instructor for our dance program. Caley is a dancer, performer, choreographer, actor, and singer from Schenectady, New York. She received her AS in Social Sciences from Schenectady County Community College in 2018 and her BFA in Dance in 2021 from SUNY at Fredonia while earning Summa Cum Laude honors. Caley began dancing when she was 6 years old when she instantly knew she wanted to incorporate it into her life forever. She received extensive dance training in musical theatre, contemporary, tap, ballet, pointe, choreography, and jazz from Freddy Ramirez, Lindsay Dashew, Debra Ann Pigliavento, Michele Pigliavento, Paula J. Peters, Anthony Alterio, Sam Kenney, Angelika Summerton, and Angela DiFiore. She has performed in Fredonia Dance Ensemble dancing in works by artists Paul Mockovak, Anthony Alterio, Angelika Summerton, Dale Merrill, and Paula J. Peters. She has been in seventeen theatrical dance productions such as 42nd Street, In the Heights, and The Wild Party and eighteen acting theatrical productions such as Suite Surrender and School of Rock, with directors Sharon Paluch, Michael Camelo, Brian Clemente, and Suzanne Rayome, and choreographers Abby Todd, Carolyn Frantz, and Spencer Lee. Look for our fall registrations to open soon with our new and improved dance line up!
