Thermoreceptors and Deer: How They Sense Heat and What It Means for
There is significant field data that animals such as whitetail deer react to IR and or heat signatures. So much so that it is settled at this point. What is not settled is if animals such as whitetail deer are seeing on the IR spectrum or if they are sensing IR heat signatures through their specialized cells called thermoreceptors. Some research suggests that deer do not have the ability to see infrared light, as their eyes are not designed to detect wavelengths longer than 720 nm, which is within the visible light spectrum. According to this research, this means that deer cannot see into the infrared spectrum. However, research also shows that deer have specialized cells called thermoreceptors that are capable of detecting changes in temperature. When an object emits infrared radiation, it also emits heat energy, which the thermoreceptors in a deer’s body can sense. This ability allows deer to detect heat signatures from a distance, aiding in the identification of potential threats and prey. Therefore, irrespective of if whitetail deer are seeing or sensing IR, Zero Trace removes this concern as it blocks the hunters IR & Heat Signature. To our knowledge Zero Trace is the only product through a spray on application that does this.
Zero Trace also has potential in the game camera market to eliminate / mitigate the IR & heat signatures that the cameras produce.
Below are the test results showing the formulas ability to eliminate IR light & Heat Signatures –
