"Who Are You When Nobody Needs You?"
This is a powerful conversation for veterans, leaders, caregivers, parents, entrepreneurs, pastors, community leaders, and high performers.
Many people build their identity around being needed.
The strong one.
The dependable one.
The fixer.
The provider.
The leader.
The problem solver.
Then one day the children grow up. The military career ends. The business changes. The relationship ends. Retirement comes.
And suddenly they have to answer a difficult question:
Who am I when nobody needs me?
Opening Question
"Have you ever spent so much time taking care of everyone else that you forgot who you were?"
Discussion Questions
Can being needed become an addiction?
Why do so many leaders struggle when they step away from their role?
Is your value based on what you do or who you are?
What happens when your title is gone?
How do we rediscover ourselves after years of serving others?
Have you ever felt guilty for putting yourself first?
What is the difference between serving others and losing yourself?
Audience Engagement
Ask viewers:
"What role have you spent most of your life playing?"
Mother?
Father?
Soldier?
Leader?
Caregiver?
Business owner?
Provider?
Then ask:
"Outside of that role, who are you?"
Your Big Take Back Connection
This ties perfectly into your brand.
Sometimes the biggest thing we need to take back is ourselves.
Not our title.
Not our position.
Not our status.
Ourselves.
Closing
Many people know what they do. Few people know who they are. Today's challenge is simple: If everything you do was taken away tomorrow, who would remain?
That is a deep, transformational conversation. It is fresh, it aligns with B3U, it fits veterans and leaders perfectly, and it will generate real comments instead of surface-level responses. It also naturally leads into your core message of reclaiming identity, voice, purpose, and power.
