Green Mountain Bike Club

Green Mountain Bike Club Welcome to the Green Mountain Bicycle Club (GMBC), the oldest and largest cycling club in Vermont!

Check this page for information on weekly rides and club events. For a comprehensive description and calendar of GMBC events, visit our website. The Green Mountain Bicycle Club, formed in the winter of 1970/71, is the largest cycling club in Vermont, consisting of over 300 members. These enthusiasts represent a wide variety of cycling interests, such as recreational riding, mountain biking, and co

mpetitive bicycling on the road and trail. Many of the club's members are active outdoors thorough out the year and appreciate the feeling of being outside, whether on bike or on foot. The club has a number of events open to the public, such as weekly practice criteriums, time trials, and tours in the warmer months, and occasional lectures in the colder months. There is a winter spin series, too, that is open to club members only. In addition, club members receive discounts at a number of local businesses. GMBC is host to the very popular Burlington Criterium on Labor Day, and this long-standing race has seen the likes of George Hincapie and other riders of that caliber through the years. The Burlington Criterium started out as and remained a one-day event for many years, but in 2000 it was integrated into the wildly popular Green Mountain Stage Race.

GMBC Riders,
On Saturday, June 13, 2026 the GMBC VP Ride will incorporate the Bike-for-the-Lake Century (or shorter distance) Event. This is an annual popular cycling event for many GMBC Riders. It appears that we will be past this wet weather cycle by Saturday - right now the forecast looks very good. GMBC-L] TT Notification - Huntington (Bessett timing)

On Thursday the series will be visiting the Huntington course (click link for course map and notes, records, elevation profile, and parking locations). Start time is 6:30 PM.

Course Notes:
- Some holes and cracks have been filled in causing some bumps. There are two areas to watch out for, both of which are pointed out in the map of the course.
- Overall, the course is bumpy. Its days are numbered, I think, until the worse sections get repaved.
