The Richmond SPOKESHOP Bike Lounge was Richmond's only bike shop. Built for the community ~ By the community, it offered service and repairs ~ Custom Builds ~
Community space ~ Bicycle Safety Classes ~ New and Used Bikes ~ Community Bike Valet for neighboring Businesses ~ Mobile Repairs ~ Monthly Free Safety checks and and Fixi-ins ~ Family Bike Collective. It was succeeded by Rich city Rides, fou

nded by Najari Smith. Najari a Brooklyn Native Moved to richmond after being introduced to bike culture and the Richmond Community at SPOKES Life is Living Bike Valet in 2011. Smith continues the work as the only bike shop in Richmond with a shop, location and business model inspired by his learnings and time working with SPOKES. He learned to leverage through activism and action voice in local regional and national advocacy and holds municipal positions on the Richmond Art Commission, Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee, and a number of other civic groups. Honoring the life and legacy of Betty Reid Soskin 🖤

Trailblazer, storyteller, and the oldest active National Park Service ranger in U.S. history, Betty passed peacefully at her home in Richmond on Sunday, surrounded by family. She was 104.

As a key voice behind the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park, Ranger Betty uplifted untold stories and ensured the contributions of women were seen, heard, and honored.

Thank you for your service, Ranger Betty. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations.

Come together to honor Dr. King’s legacy through service, healing, and community action ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏻

Join us on Monday, January 19, 2026, for the 19th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on the Richmond Greenway Trail.

Volunteers of all ages are invited to take part in greening projects, garden care, art activities, trail maintenance, a resource fair, and environmental education.

Event runs rain or shine. Dress in layers and wear rain boots.

9:00 AM – 1:00 PM | Richmond Greenway Trail

This is great we'll have to connect and head over there soon.

Last month we celebrated the grand opening of the Pittsburg BART Pedestrian & Bicycle Connectivity Project. 🎉 This project completed a critical gap in the low-stress bikeway network on Railroad Ave between the Pittsburg Center BART train station and the existing Delta de Anza Trail, a 15-mile facility running east-west across East Contra Costa County.

It was great to see so many elected officials come out, along with local groups like the Delta Pedalers bike club, Safe Streets Antioch, and Bike Concord. For a fuller recap, check out BikeEastBay.org/News
