A unique element was added to this exchange. The delegation of 20 was split into 5 groups. Each group traveled to a different city in Turkmenistan to share their expertise on adaptive sport. The cities, determined by the State Department and U.S. Embassy, were: Mary, Turkmenabat, Turkmenbashy, and Dasoguz. One group remained in Ashgabat.
So after just 2 full days in country, our group packed up their suitcases, loaded them into vans and headed out in different directions to connect with people with disabilities throughout Turkmenistan. This week, we'll post stories that highlight each regional visit.

The signature event of our trip to Turkmenistan was an Adaptive Sport Demonstration in the Team Sports Hall of the Olympic Complex. With an audience of more than 1,000 students from local sports schools, adapative sport athletes from the U.S. and Turkmenistan competed in five sports, showcasing their ability and inspiring us all.
