BIG UPDATE!!! Richmond Youth Football and Cheer
I want to first recognize a couple changes that we have had on our Richmond Youth Football and Cheer board; our new President of our board is now Bill Fisher and new Vice President is now Steve Schlehuber. Bill previously acted as our VP and Steve as our Secretary. Jade Green will continue to serve as our Cheer Director. We also have new members that will be added to our team as we inch closer to yet another season of football and cheer. All good things!
Second, we have an exciting announcement that Richmond Youth Football and Cheer will be joining the Hometown Football League (HFL). We have, as of today, officially been voted into this league that includes all of our neighboring BWAC teams that our school currently plays from Middle School and beyond. While we have appreciated and enjoyed competing in the TAFL league, we will be making this transition for our upcoming 2023 season. We are incredibly excited about this opportunity to join this league and the competition it brings.
I want you all to know, this will bring about some changes, and those changes can always be awkward at first. However, we have had many discussions weighing the pros and cons of leaving TAFL and joining HFL and we did this as board members, coaches, and parents who care deeply about our kids and the opportunities which can be provided for them. It was not an easy decision but after reviewing all details and crunching many numbers, we unanimously voted to head in the direction of the HFL. As a board, we want our Richmond family, because that is what we are, to know that we have only your child’s best interest at hand. It was a large part of this decision but we also took into consideration many issues we had with our previous season. We feel we made the right decision and will stand by that decision.
Lastly, there is a lot of noise surrounding Richmond leaving TAFL. Please respect not only our decision, but also any feedback regarding the TAFL organization. If there are any issues, we will be holding a town hall meeting in the coming weeks to provide an open forum for our community where we can dive deeper into what this transition looks like. We hold nothing against TAFL in any way or anyone affiliated. We respect their organization and hope the best for TAFL in the future. So please, be respectful with your words and bring your questions to our town hall meeting. We will post that on our page once we have selected a date and time. Thank you all for your continued support of this great program. The best is yet to come for our boys and girls!
As always, GO BLUE DEVILS!!!
