Sorry for second post but one of my favorite parts about tonight is that in this tournament it goes to a 3-player PK. All 3 of my Captains said, “yeah we are good.” The first two made it. The third didn’t have to shoot cause she made two saves as our GK. I’m just proud.

Tonight had everything. 30 minute rain delay. Stellar saves from both GKs. A late goal (first MS goal) from Ella Goens. And A game-winning PK from one of our captains, Kate Briscoe. Oh. And our keeper, Sam Trimble, with (ANOTHER!) shutout in a shootout. A young team BUT a hungry team.

As we head into the last week of preseason I need to take a minute to brag on this year’s captains. It took 2 (TWO!) trainings before they learned our new routine and took over. I’m a talker, everyone knows, but they train for the first 30 minutes without needing “Coach” at all. They go back onto the track to finish runs (that they’ve already completed) with their teammates, they stop their own technical training to go help younger players, & so much more.
I put a ton of responsibility on my captains (I even make them read a book over summer!) but Kate, Nora, & Sam have risen to the challenge.
