Midwifery care is centered on honoring the process of natural birth. When the natural process is encouraged, fewer complications result. A midwife works closely with you to nurture your physical and emotional well- being throughout the childbearing cycle. This includes individualized education, emotional support and friendship, prenatal care, continuous care throughout labor and delivery, and postpartum care for both you and your baby.

🧠✨ Did you know your baby’s head is designed to change shape during birth?

One of the incredible things about a newborn’s skull is that the bones aren’t fused together yet. Instead, several skull bones are connected by flexible seams called sutures, with soft areas called fontanelles (“soft spots”) between them.

This flexibility is incredibly important during birth! 👶🏼

As baby moves through the pelvis, the skull bones can overlap and shift slightly in a process called molding. This allows the head to temporarily become a little narrower and more compact so it can navigate through the birth canal.

You may notice a baby’s head looking a little cone-shaped or elongated immediately after birth. That’s often completely normal and is one of the amazing ways a baby’s body adapts to the journey into the world. ❤️

And don’t worry—the bones don’t stay that way! Over the following hours and days, the molding typically resolves and baby’s head gradually rounds back out.

✨ Birth really is a team effort between mom and baby—and baby’s skull is built for the job!

Sometimes it’s the big moments we remember most.

The first cry.
The first time you see baby’s face.
The moment parents realize, “We did it.”

But sometimes it’s the little things, too.

A hand being held during a contraction.
A quiet moment between pushes.
A partner whispering encouragement.
A newborn curled up peacefully on mom’s chest.
