It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon on Gull Lake. Conditions were 8-10 mph from the east. Temps in the low to mid 70's. Wonderful.

Island Race #2
1. J-22 Crazy Horse #823
2. J-22 Commodore Racing #1577
3. Flying Scot #1322 Khol
4. Capri 22 Ghost Owl #1199
5. Flying Scot #4460 Thompson

After sailing, we had an enjoyable gathering at the Pavilion to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox. Thanks to Gail Thompson for putting it together. The snacks, drinks and camaraderie were top notch!

I couldn't help but think of our Spring Equinox celebration... it was cancelled because of "the virus". That darn virus has dominated TWO entire seasons so far this year. I guess the time has come to be grateful that we had a sailing season at all. OK, I am grateful for the season so far, and really grateful that it isn't over yet!!

Next up...
9/23 - Wednesday club racing. Start time 6:30. This will be the LAST Wednesday evening racing of the season. I've heard that Wet and Wild will continue into the following week.
9/26 - Saturday. Wood Star Boat Series. Start time 11am, 3 races.
9/27 - Sunday. Wood Star Boat Series. Start time 10am, 2 races... plus...
9/27 - Sunday. Wood Start Boat Series/Island Race #3. Stars first warning 12:55pm, Island fleet first warning 1:00pm.

Yes, the Vintage wood Star Boats will join the Island race for their last race of their series. It should be fun to watch the Stars take the LONG course and round the Island!!

See you on the water!!

Island Race #1

It was a wonderful Island Race kind of day. Winds were 10-12+ from the west/northwest (with a few shifty surprises). Temperature was in the mid 60's and the sun tried it's best to shine through. A great day on the lake!!
Six boats came out to enjoy the extra long course. It would be great to have more participants... so come on out. The sailing is FINE on Gull Lake in the Fall. Five more Sunday Island Races to go.

The course was a 2 and 1/3 triangle, marks to port, 1.25 mile windward leg at 290 degrees, winds fairly steady 6 to 10 mph, temps comfortable around 77 degrees.

Corrected results using Portsmouth Handicap rating.

Yes, Spring will still arrive on Thursday, March 19th. However we will NOT be celebrating burning of the socks on March 21st together.
Don't worry, we will have a celebration on a date in the future... perhaps when covid-19 has run it's course and left our country for good!
Please stay safe and stay put, if possible.
