One thing a bi yearly or if riding very heavy a yearly tune up will prevent, is this type of stuff. Rust is a bikes enemy just a shot of l**e on these parts would keep it shifting smooth and last longer !

One of a group of expensive shaper cutters. 15 degree offset on this one. It can have carbide or a steel alloy teeth if you will, so either a diamond wheel or CBN wheel must be used. Great care in setting up this cutter as a nick will ruin it or take a lot of life off the cutter.

Fellow brought in his Batavious road bike. Again 1972 which must have been a great year for the road bike industry. Been sitting a few years and he opened the bar bag and said. Hmmm, I did have a pair of gloves in there. I told him they are still there , just broken down to make a home for the occupant who moved in over the years.
