Check out these two badasses! Jeremy and Laura are STACKING the muscle back on after recently rejoining the farm.
Take a look at the bottom charts. Both of them dropped skeletal muscle during their time away from the gym but the really cool thing is not only did they gain it all back, they surpassed their old numbers substantially.
Here’s two really BIG things that immediately stick out to a coaching eye.
1) Let’s start with Jeremy. He’s a very active person, owning his own construction business, he’s constantly doing manual labor. That alone did not build or maintain his muscle. Getting a ton of steps in at work and just doing low intensity exercise is not the same as adding the gym back in and pushing it on weights and high intensity workouts. The science supports this and obviously the InBody does too.
2) Look at Laura’s numbers. Her weight went up. This is a GOOD thing. It was all muscle gain. Check out her body fat %. That went down, not because she lost a bunch of “weight” but because the ratio of muscle to other mass changed. Weight loss does NOT necessarily mean you’re getting healthier. It’s so important to be able to understand what the numbers are telling you, vs one number on a weight scale.
Side note unrelated to the two above: In an age when so many people are getting on things like GLP-1, it’s more important than ever that you are making weight training a priority to maintain both muscle and bone density. While it may feel good in the short term to lose a bunch of weight, especially if you’ve been heavy for many years, make sure you understand where your muscle is at. When you get older, it’s VERY hard to get it back.
If you’d like to come in for your own InBody scan to learn what your body is made up of, shoot us a message and we can get non-members scheduled to come in for $20. Owner and head coach Rob Avery will go over the results with you.
