The Oriental Martial Arts College, is a worldwide system of affiliated schools that teach the Moogong Ryu Wholistic martial arts system. Moogong Ryu (Guardian of the Peace) is an innovative and wholistic life skills system based on centuries old traditional Korean martial arts such as Taekwondo, Hapkido (Special Tactic / Gentle street self-defense), and Gumdo (Korean sword) while incorporating the best features of other Asian martial, healing, and philosophical arts that our Grandmasters and Masters have studied for over fifty years. These additional arts include Karate, Kung Fu, Jujitsu, Taichi, and Kimoodo Healing Art.

OMAC has had many Grandmasters, Masters, and Instructors throughout the years but today we remember our founder:
Supreme Grandmaster Joon P. Choi.

As the founder of Oriental Martial Arts College World (OMAC) - Moogongryu system, Supreme Grandmaster Choi believed that no matter what age, ability, or place in life a person was in, anyone could learn martial arts, and that it was never too late - to start something good.

Supreme Grandmaster Choi began learning Taekwondo on the streets of an impoverished and actively war-torn North Korea - then in refugee camps during the Korean War times. In unimaginable conditions Taekwondo and martial arts became his ONE LIFE - first out of sheer necessity of staying alive, then he began to teach in 1963, training others the skills to protect themselves and innocents or loved ones around them.

In 1971, Supreme Grandmaster Joon P. Choi came to America to teach Taekwondo and founded The Oriental Martial Arts College, with only $25 in his pocket, and knowing just a couple of English words... "Hamburger" and "Milk".

In 1976, with the dream of uniting all different martial art disciplines and leaders together in the spirit of the beauty of martial arts, Supreme Grandmaster Choi founded "The Battle of Columbus - Martial Arts World Games".

Through the 70s and 80s Supreme Grandmaster Choi trained many world-renowned champions and contenders - and in 1988 - was the USA Olympic Taekwondo Coach, leading the team to 4 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze medals!

Supreme Grandmaster Choi continued his life-long Martial arts journey - pioneering, training, teaching, and passing on his wisdom, positivity, and unbounded compassion and love of life and martial arts as a way of life - to his students and many connections he made from all walks of life.

In 2013, Supreme Grandmaster Joon P. Choi was recognized for his life-long dedication, development, contributions, and achievements in the Martial Ars world - by his own Master, 10th Dan Supreme Grandmaster Byung Jik Ro - one of the original founding fathers of modern Taekwondo as we know it - who bestowed the rank of 10th Dan Supreme Grandmaster to our very own leader, Supreme Grandmaster Joon P. Choi.

Supreme Grandmaster Choi never stopped sharing his passion and wisdom in the training and strengthening of mind, body, spirit, emotion - and passing on the lessons learned in his journey of his One Life of Martial Arts - until his tragic passing in September of 2021.

Through the years Supreme Grandmaster Choi had thousands of students and led many to a better life through martial arts. He is greatly missed by family, friends, and students but his legacy lives on through countless students, friends, colleagues, and leaders.

On this the 5 year anniversary we remember the man that believed no matter who you were you were or where you came from, Martial Arts could help you to have a better day tomorrow.
