Grand Teton Pickleball will be closing. The owners of our building have signed a lease with a multi-state Italian restaurant chain that will occupy the pickleball side of the building. Grand Teton Gun & Range is not affected. This is exciting news for Rexburg as the restaurant has a great reputation and excellent on-line ratings.
Naturally this will result in modification of our pickleball operations and eventual shutdown.
All paying memberships with terminate at the end of the month. Court Two70 and the Beehive court will remain open through June 30. We are not sure exactly when they will close. We hope to complete all leagues etc. But no new leagues will be started. Most of the initial construction work will be in the back so the Nitro court will close first. We will change its availability when necessary.
Memberships with an expiration after June 30 will not be renewed.
If you have a gift card marked as “no cash value” (These were mostly given away at our last tournament) then the card needs to be used before we close.
Effective immediately our public hours are 5AM until 8PM except on Fridays when we will stay open until 9PM. Premium Members retain 5AM-12AM access. $5 Late Night open play is cancelled. Members with Unlimited Open Play memberships will be converted to premium memberships at no additional charge.
If we are open beyond June 30, the rates for court reservations will be $5/person/per hour.
We will make further announcements and postings as details are finalized.
We are VERY grateful to all our customers, and especially our Premium members.
On a personal level, it has been a great experience to meet so many players and make so many new friends.
We owe a debt of gratitude to Lynn Beck, who was helpful in every way possible. We are also grateful to all the independent instructors (Lynn Beck, Kevin Kimball, Derek Arima, Josh Thomas, and Stephanie Ballard) who chose to teach at Grand Teton Pickleball. Again, we are grateful to all our members, many of whom made excellent suggestions to us. We tried to implement every good suggestion.
We sincerely wished that this business venture had been able to meet its goals. Unfortunately, there are simply too many free indoor pickleball options available during most of the year, whether at the Bobcat Fieldhouse or at the many meetinghouses of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We tried to provide the best experience we could but we could not regularly draw sufficient players willing to pay to play. So long as those free indoor options are available I sincerely doubt any new indoor commercial Pickleball facility will be built in Rexburg. Perhaps later as Rexburg grows this will change or if the church changes their policy about allowing pickleball that is not specifically related to a church sponsored activity. We really tried to make it work by keeping expenses down. We just wished it had done better.
Again, thank you. We hope to see you a lot during the remainder June!
