SOFTBALL: Burel's walk-off scores Mann in the bottom of the 7th for the 6-5 win.

GAINESVILLE – It seems that Bri Burel has been bringing the hammer every game.
I mean, this kid has been ripping the ball this spring.
And she’s just a freshman.
With 2 outs in a 5-5 game in the bottom of the seventh, Burel took the 1-2 count pitch hard into left field, scoring Autumn Mann from second base as Letchworth took the walk-off 6-5 victory over York/Pavilion on Wednesday.
“York/Pavilion is a scrappy team, and they kept battling all night,” Letchworth coach Chad DeRock said. “We could not find any rhythm. But in a tough league, you don't take wins for granted.”
This one was close throughout.
Letchworth put up 4 runs in the fourth before Y/P countered with 2 of their own in the fifth to make it a 5-3 game.
Y/P scored a run in the sixth and seventh to tie it up.
Winning pitcher Kendall Jines pitched 7 innings, allowing 5 hits with 10 strikeouts.

Y/P coach Cara Stewart said, “The girls played a good game tonight. We were down 5-1 after 4 innings, and Charlotte Rudgers stole home on a passed ball in the top of the 7th to tie things up and give us a chance, but Letchworth answered in the bottom of the inning with a nice hit to left field.”
York-Pavilion travels to Haverling tomorrow night.
