The Reston Swim Team Association (RSTA) is a summer swim league open to all swimmers between the ages of 6 and 18. The objective and primary purpose of the RSTA is the education of all individuals ages 6-18 for the purpose of developing and improving their capabilities in the sport of swimming. In addition to the development of competitive skills, the RSTA promotes the virtues of good conduct and

Based on forecasts, the meets are ON.

But we continue to keep a close eye on the air quality with the smoke coming down from the Canadian wildfires.

Here is our plan for tomorrow, Saturday, July 18.

We will check the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 5:30 AM and make the call for swim meets:

Red or Purple AQI: Meets are CANCELED.
Orange AQI: Meets are ON. If you or your swimmer would rather sit it out, that is completely OK. Please email or text your managers and inform them of your decision to not swim.
We will send word in the morning as soon as the decision is made. When in doubt, your health comes first.

We checked the air this morning and the AQI is in the 300s, which is rated Hazardous, even higher than purple. That is an easy call: practice is CANCELED today, Friday, July 17. Keep everyone indoors and take the morning off.

Now the good news. Tomorrow's forecast is yellow, back down to moderate levels. So unless the forecast changes overnight, the meet is ON.

Rest up today, hydrate, and we will see you at the pool tomorrow. Let's finish this season strong.
If anything changes with the forecast, we will let you know right away.
Thank you,Michelle LakeRSTA President, on behalf of the RSTA Executive Committee

We’re just 7 weeks out from the first day of Summer Swim practice! Have you registered??

If you haven’t, now is your last chance to get $25 off for each swimmer. Early bird registration ends on Saturday, April 11.

After April 11, the registration fee bumps up from $225 to $250.

A note for new swimmers: All new swimmers, including swimmers currently in New Wave, must complete an RSTA swim assessment before the season begins. If you are registering a new swimmer, choose “New Swimmer” from the registration menu. You’ll receive a request to sign up for an assessment once you’ve completed the registration. Swim assessments cost $25.

Once a new swimmer passes the assessment, they will be offered a spot on a team, and you’ll be charged for the full season.
