Reno Chess Club on Chess.com! Each week, our man Alex Weirauch hosts fast time control events Sunday on Chess.com. This Sunday, March 2, 15+10 blitz is scheduled for a 10:30am start time. Set a reminder for Sunday mornings if we ever forget to post, as the games will still be on!
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYOFFS HAVE BEGUN
CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNEYS HAVE BEGUN
THE REIGN OF TERROR SWISS HAS BEGUN
All of the above events are game in 90 minutes with a 30-second increment per move.
These events are designed with the plan of you facing a challenging opponent each week even if you do not manage to win your way into the next championship round. Prizes for club and class champions include trophies, free entry to events, free annual memberships, and United States money.
Naturally, you should visit us at the Reno Bridge/Chess Club at 125 W. Plumb Lane, Reno 89509, starting at 530pm each Thursday. Especially if social media called you here, we encourage you to come through and play a couple of games with us! Rated games start about an hour later, so if you are interested at signing up for and becoming USCF-rated, this is a great opportunity.
Reno Quads happen the fourth Saturday of most months. We had one February 22, and our next will be March22nd at 10am at the Crosspoint Church at 4001 S. Virginia Street Suite D3, Reno 89502 inside the Reno Town Mall. (When you enter the mall, if you walk toward the Washoe County Library at the rear, you will see Crosspoint on your right.) You are sectioned into groups of four based on rating and then play three games at a 45+30 classic time control. Great fun! Reach out if you are seeking to participate or join us Thursday at the Reno Chess Club for more info! USCF membership is required to participate in Quads. Don't worry - we can help you join USCF if you are not a member at this time.
Soon we will announce a new Pub Chess with Eli date.
