We've been very focused on our exciting saddle journey, but all our usual directly horse and human facing work is still going on too!

We care for around 30 horses every day ranging from 3-30 years old.

We work with horses solid in R+ to continue refining skills, introduce "cross over" horses to R+ for enrichment and/or retraining, start unhandled horses with R+, and, as shown here, help horses who have felt like the only way people would listen to them was through BIG behaviors that were dangerous for people to be around.

This is is the horse I've renamed Venture, Ven for short. This was one of our first sessions a couple of months ago back to working toward his hoof handling since I took time off for baby. Ven was likely to bite and/or kick during hoof handling, so we've worked entirely in protected contact. He has come so far. I'll get updated video soon to show his progress with the hoof stand and trimming in protected contact, as well as touch in shared space.

I'm focused on filling the holes I see in the treeless market and I'm grateful to be partnered with a team that is just as driven to innovate as I am.

The Haven Horsemanship line of saddles was over 10 years in the making...
For over a decade, Haven Horsemanship has held a unique place in the equestrian world β€” where horse well-being, rider comfort, biomechanics, and compassionate horsemanship come together. Through years of working with horses of many breeds, body types, histories, and ability levels, I began to see something clearly:

The relationship between horse, rider, and saddle changes everything.

As trainer and instructor, I witnessed how saddle design affects not only movement and performance, but also confidence, comfort, communication, and long-term physical well-being for both horse and human.

As part of my work, I spent years supporting horses through physical rehabilitation β€” including veterinary-supervised rehabilitation for issues such as kissing spine, muscle damage, asymmetry, restriction, and discomfort related to poor saddle fit.

My passion for treeless riding led us to extensive impression pad testing across many brands and models, continually searching for what truly allows horses to move freely and riders to sit in harmony.

Over time, riders from around the world began reaching out for help fitting treeless saddles for horses and humans seeking greater comfort together β€” both in person and virtually.

HH Saddles was born from bringing all of those experiences together.

Introduced in 2026, the HH Treeless and Leather Tree Saddle System is being thoughtfully developed for riders who value connection, biomechanics, freedom of movement, and conscious craftsmanship.

I am proud to introduce the Chapparral πŸ’šπŸ§‘

Chapparral is a lighter weight and more flexible leather tree saddle, my go to for particularly hard to fit horses. It is has a spanish style flap with a more english style seat.

For the horse:
- structure with flexibility
- 3 billet positions
- adjustable panels
- compact foot print

For the rider:
- medium depth seat
- medium waist/twist, wide seat
- grippy suede on flap, knee and seat
- 2 iron bar options
- adjustable knee roll
- spanish flap gives flexibility of leg position

Founding price is $1776, includes shipping, does not include tariffs.

These are hand made, artisan items. Please expect a 6-8 week turn around time.

There is a roughly 15" western/17" english available for demo in the Reno area and for trials anywhere in North America.

The first peek at Chapparral is here! πŸŽ‰

The Chapparral is my go to for especially difficult to fit horses because it is structured, but is not rigid, and it is compact It is softer and more pliable while still maintaining the structure needed to protect the horses back and support the rider.

For the rider, it offers some ambiguity of leg position with the shape of the flap, adjustable knee roll, and two iron bar positions.

It is modeled here by Champ look alike, Sable, who is with Hoofbeat Heroes Equine Rescue.

I can't wait to share full info on the Chapparral tomorrow πŸ’šπŸ§‘

Chapparral taught me about asymmetry.

Chapparral was physically asymmetrical due to a pelvis injury he likely sustained when he was young. His right hip point was inches lower than his left and pointed low. He was gifted to me by a dear friend who is an equine physical therapist. She'd discovered his injury that had gone unnoticed for his first 10 or so years of life and had been able to help him to serviceable soundness. He and I weree dedicated to continuing his rehabilitative work. He remained serviceably sound and eager to participate in lessons with students until we lost him suddenly to a suspected strangulating lipoma in 2022.

Beyond his rehabilitative work, the key to maintaining his physical, mental and emotional health was saddle fit. Due to the location of his injury and how he had healed, the whole right side of his back was lower than the left. The difference between left and right increased the further down his back you went. The difference was around a quarter of an inch behind his wither, to nearly 3/4" at his loin. This is a HUGE difference for saddle fit. Saddles consistently slid right. The rider's pelvis was consistently tipped to the right, shortening their left leg and lengthening their right leg. Riders often rode with their right iron a hole shorter. This was not sustainable long term for him or his many students.

Chapparral and I experimented with best saddle types, saddle pad inlay types and shim material types extensively. He "wrote" the book for me on helping asymmetrical horses and their riders to be more comfortable, so we'll chat about him again for a later product announcement πŸ˜‰

For a saddle, what we discovered was...
- saddle foot print is extremely important, the more compact, the better
- a happy medium between structure and flexibility is needed. Too structured meant very difficult to shim adequately. Too flexible could lend itself to saddle shifting even when shimmed

The next HH saddle is in honor of an equine family member who is no longer with us, Chapparral.

Even though he took a piece of my heart when he passed, it's not as big as the gifts he gave me.

I cannot wait to share about his story and the lessons he taught me next week.

We miss you and love you, Chapparral πŸ’šπŸ§‘

Hi friends!

I plan to highlight the nonprofits that the 10% of HH saddles' profits goes to each month. For June, 5% will be going to Soulstice Ranch Equine Sanctuary!

Please join us in donating to this amazing organization in June. Their PayPal is . Here's a glimpse at the work they do πŸ’šπŸ§‘

"Rowan is a roughly 12 year old, 16.3 hand said to be drum horse. When his new owners went to pick Rowan up from the meeting spot with the shippers, they had two double chains over his nose, one on each side to lead him into the new owner’s trailer. He had not had hoof care in quite some time and his hooves were cracking and overlapping. He was surrendered to the sanctuary due to severely aggressive behavior. The aggressive behavior made any type of care impossible and he was scaring his care takers by lunging at them, making it very challenging to get him the care he desperately needed.

Once he was at Soulstice Ranch, there was a point in time he was laying down most of the day to get the pressure off of his feet. With a forage based diet, a regulated herd, clicker training and the ability for cooperative care, he has been such a delight for us to have at the sanctuary. He has been ridden by myself and my at the time 7 year old niece and even attended a 4 day horsemanship clinic to further education. He is a true ambassador of what we strive to do here.

Unfortunately he has had some hoof and mobility changes recently that need further investigation and will need radiographs of his feet. This will total around $350 with the vet call to the farm."

I hope HH and others can help them raise the needed funds for Rowan's radiographs, andcmore!

Thank you for all you do, Soulstice Ranch!

The SP is here πŸŽ‰

Comfy for the sweet times and secure for the spicy times πŸ˜‰

SP is for the riders looking for a secure seat that they don't feel STUCK in.

SP is an Australian Stock Saddle with a leather tree and adjustable panels. It has a deep structured seat, narrower waist/twist, poleys, and a plethora of d rings on the pommel and around the cantle. It has an iron bar that can accommodate fenders with 1" straps or english leathers.

The SP is best for horses who are more straight forward fits (flatter backs rather than curvy backs, not significantly uphill or downhill, not significantly short backed in comparison to rider seat size), and for riders who do well with a more traditional iron bar position.

The SP can come as shown with a 24" flap length from center of seat, or in a short flap option. It can come with narrow western fenders and stirrups as shown or with english monoleathers.

I have a roughly 18" english seat here that is available for trials.

These are hand made, artisan items, expect a 6-8 week turn around time.

Founding price is $1776, shipping is included, tariffs are not.
