With the fires nearby and smoke/evacuation conditions changing quickly, please make sure you and your loved ones are prioritizing safety above all else.

Here are a few quick reminders for our martial arts family right now:

Pact Your Go-Bags: Have essentials, medications, pet supplies, and important documents packed and by the door just in case evacuation warnings change in your area.

Limit Outdoor Activity: Air quality can drop rapidly with active fires. Keep training indoors, rest up, and avoid heavy outdoor exertion while the smoke is thick.

Check on Your Neighbors: A true martial artist looks out for the community. Reach out to elderly neighbors or families who might need extra help preparing or evacuating.

Stay Updated: Keep a close eye on official local emergency alerts, county fire updates, and evacuation maps.

We are keeping everyone in our thoughts—stay safe, stay vigilant, and take care of each other!

SGM Rick Alemany was my first Karate instructor in San Francisco. I was just a kid when I met him, and he lived only a few doors down from me on Sanchez Street. He was much more than an instructor—he became an important mentor and influence in my life.

He would take my siblings and me camping and even taught me how to properly roll up a sleeping bag. His kindness, goodwill, and generosity opened the door for my brother and me to the world of martial arts and gave us an experience that would shape our lives.

I studied under SGM Alemany for many years as a child and eventually returned to Karate as an adult. In 1997, I had the honor of earning my Black Belt.

SGM Alemany was an amazing instructor, mentor, and friend. The lessons he taught me went far beyond Karate. He taught through his actions the importance of discipline, generosity, and giving back to others.

I will always be grateful that our paths crossed and that he was the person who introduced me to the martial arts. His influence will remain a part of me and the many lives he touched.

He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through his students and the martial arts community.

You will always be remembered on this day and always... Happy Birthday!

Join us tomorrow (Sunday) from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM for a $10 drop-in sparring class led by Malia!

All drop-in fees go directly toward supporting her fundraising efforts for her upcoming Olympics trip. Come get some great mat time, sharpen your skills, and support Malia on her journey!

A few quick reminders as we kick off the month:

📝 Class Slots: If you haven’t signed up for your regular time slot yet, please do so as soon as possible!

🔄 Flexible Attendance: We know life gets busy! If you’re unable to make your regular time slot during any given week, feel free to drop in on any other available slot that works with your schedule.

💪 Sunday Morning Conditioning: Boost your endurance and strength! We’re offering conditioning sessions every Sunday from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM. This is open to all karate students who are interested in training hard—we’d love to see you there! AGES 8 AND UP!!

Reaching the purple belt level is a major milestone. It takes endless hours of practice, discipline, focus, and true grit. Sofia has consistently shown incredible dedication, pushing through every tough drill, fine-tuning her technique, and proving what hard work and perseverance look like.

We are so proud of your growth, attitude, and leadership on the mat, Sofia. Keep setting the bar high and inspiring your teammates!

Important Update Regarding Our Schedule & Classes......
​As many of you know, this dojo holds such a special place in my heart. I love every single one of our students, and watching each of you grow, work hard, and flourish is truly the highlight of what I do.
​Due to some recent family obligations, our schedule will look a bit different when we return this September. Moving forward, regular classes will be held exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays.
​Keeping this community going and continuing to support our students means the world to me. To make sure we transition smoothly and find a routine that works best for our families, I’ve put together a quick poll below with a few different weekend schedule options.
​Please take a moment to look it over so I can make the best decision for our students and parents! Please comment your top two choices on class times that work best for your family.
Thank you all so much for your continued support, patience, and love. Let’s keep pushing forward!

New Karate schedule options:

Saturdays:
9:00am-10:30am, 10:30am-12:00pm, 12:00pm-1:30pm

Sundays:
9:00am-10:00am-conditioning
10:00am-11:30am, 11:30am-1:00pm

The Sunday morning at 9am will be a workout class. NO uniform just some comfortable gym clothes. We will be working on strength training.
