Hey! It’s been a minute.. I’m still going through it with my recovery, but slowly getting back to doing all the things I was doing before.
This process has been very challenging, but I’ve learn some things. Getting through something difficult like surgery, where there is not another option to get through it than to get through it, makes you exercise a muscle you didn’t even you you had. We cannot avoid the curveballs that life throw at us, but we can learn to navigate them and get stronger in the process, becoming better versions of ourselves.
I’m supposed to have learned something about patience too, but that one is still a bit challenging for me to be honest..but I guess I have learned to respect and appreciate my body. Being my own Pilates therapist in this process meant that I had to take a step back and learn to listen to what my body really needed in the moment as opposed to having an agenda or expectation. The body is smarter than we give it credit for, and as it is healing every cell in the body is doing something, and we need to give it time as well as space to do it’s thing. We need to allow the body to explore movement in a non judgmental way, really appreciating and savoring all the possible movements, which are plenty if we switch the focus from what we cannot do to what we can do. As Ron Fletcher used to say, “Every Body is Beautiful”
