Tournament Competitors!
Practice good sportsmanship!!
Character development is as important as skill. As one of our 5 rules within our dojo I expect each of you to clap for competitors even if you are going against them! Karate tournaments are an opportunity to show respect to Judges, Opponents, Teammates, and Spectators. Bow properly, listen carefully, and accept results, even if they’re not in your favour. It’s important to remember that regardless of whether you win or lose, every match is a learning experience that builds resilience. I do not and will not tolerate sore losers! Remember at the end of the day we are a team and we want to see everyone do good and feel good about themselves. So clap, cheer them all on lets make this experience a memorable one for all partaking! A simple "you got this" or "great job" along with clapping is powerful! A hug from a team mate at the end of a match even. I have seen nervousness melt away just by hearing your Teammates behind you rooting for you! A nervous child's eyes turn to a beeming smile! This is what I want for each of you! This is what I expect! You guys have trained hard and I am already proud of each of you! Remember full gi & mouthguards - for those sparring! Get out there and Shine tomorrow! 👏👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌✊️🌟🏆🥋❤️

📣 Attn: Tournament Competitors!!
Practice, Practice, & when you think you have done enough - Practice some more! 😁 Effort is a skill, Practice it! Confidence comes from preparation! I can't emphasize this enough! You may be anxious the day of the tournament, this is completely normal, we all have felt this way. Take that anxiety and make it a fire then blow it back at your opponent! What you practice when no one is looking is what counts. That is how champions are made! Lets put in the work! ✊️🙌🥋🏆❤️

📣Trust your Instructors this week as we prepare for Sundays Tournament! We have been doing this a long time and know how to win! Here are some helpful tips for your kata or weapons division!

To win a form division in a martial arts tournament, focus on a strong presentation, controlled pacing, and a memorable ending. A CONFIDENT introduction, deliberate PAUSES between moves, and a POWERFUL finish can help you stand out to the judges.

🏆Presentation: A strong introduction is crucial. Walk confidently, acknowledge all judges, and clearly state your name and form. Use this time to get into the zone and focus.
🏆Pacing: Avoid rushing through the form. Incorporate pauses between moves or sections of moves to demonstrate control and confidence. This allows the judges to appreciate the technique and precision.
🏆Ending: The final moves should be impactful and memorable. Consider a strong kia or a slight variation in timing to emphasize the conclusion.
🏆Practice: Film yourself performing the form and review it to identify areas for improvement. Practice your walk and presentation to ensure a polished and professional demeanor.
🏆Sportsmanship: Remember to congratulate your competitors and maintain a positive attitude throughout the competition. This reflects the spirit of martial arts!
