In 2022, just as business was finally climbing back from Covid, life punched us in the mouth.
On November 30th, we found out our three year old daughter, Sofia, had leukemia. The Challenge showed up. And we had to fight.
The next two and a half years were filled with chemo, transfusions, and hard days. There was fear. But we learned something powerful.
Hope quiets fear.
I’ll never forget the day Sofia looked at me before treatment (after the first year of weekly visits) and said, “I’m not going to cry today, Daddy.” She made a fist, watched the needle go in, and didn’t shed a tear.
I did.
She even struggle with just walking inside the house due to side effects of chemo.
That season taught me this. Strength is not given. It is built. Tough moments create tough people. Strength is formed in the reps of hard things.
Today, Sofia is a healthy and happy seven year old. We are forever grateful. But many families are still in the fight.
That’s why February means more to us.
It’s Heart Health Month. It’s our Cardio Challenge. And we carry the motto that we GET to do this. We don’t HAVE to.
For some, simply walking across a room is the workout.
This challenge is not about speed or records. It’s about gratitude. It’s about celebrating what your heart, body, and mind can do.
Together as one.
We GET to.
