We're jumping for joy too because The F3T is back! Peninsula Fly Fishers is proud to host the 20th Annual Fly Fishing Film Tour on March 26th in San Carlos on the SF Peninsula. Please join us at Blue Oak Brewing Co. starting 5 pm. We'll open with an hour of food, beverages, fly fishing camaraderie, and local club & sponsor interaction, followed by F3T 2026 screening and fly fishing gear door prizes raffle at intermission!

This year's films range from a multigenerational family rebuilding a historic fishing lodge after tragedy in the remote Yukon, to the legendary trout waters of Jurassic Lake in Patagonia, to an expedition deep into the Bolivian jungle in pursuit of the elusive pacu, and to intimate portraits of fishing guides and anglers whose lives are intertwined with rivers and wilderness. These and other stories are woven through beautiful scenery and watersheds in northern Canada, South America, iconic Western US rivers, the tropics and more.

Share fish stories as you enjoy Blue Oak's craft brews ranging from pilsners, hazy, West Coast and double IPAs, stouts, to its popular sours, munch on goodies from our onsite caterer chef__gillys (reserved for F3T attendees), and check in with our co-sponsors. Minors are welcome! See you there!

Thank you local sponsors! πŸ‘πŸ™πŸ‘Š

Building the Foundation
Regardless of your level of fly fishing expertise, you can always improve your fly casting. PFF hosts a monthly fly casting clinic and assessment for our members. We work closely with the Northern California Council of Fly Fishers International (NCCFFI) to offer FFI's Fly Casting Skills Development Program.

Congrats to EJ, Hiro, Dennis and Stan for achieving the Bronze casting level certification last weekend! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘ŠπŸΌ

Anyone can receive free casting coaching and FFI skill certification with NCCFFI at the Pleasanton Fly Fishing Show this weekend (on the back fields) or PFF members can join our next clinic on March 21st at Erckenbrack Park in Foster City. (Register via our event calendar, see link in bio.)

β€œI fish not because I wish to kill, but because fishing helps me to live. I fish to learn the habits of trout, to cast flies with precision, and occasionally to contend with a worthy adversary.” – Theodore Gordon, the "father" of American fly fishing

How about some tropical images to warm you up this winter? πŸŒ΄πŸ πŸ‹β€πŸŸ©πŸΉ At PFF, we're always thinking about fly fishing all the time! Flashing back to some prior tropical memories are tarpon chaser members John, Reynolds and Bill, while members Sheree and Richard celebrate their landings of the extremely challenging permit! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸŸπŸŸπŸ˜Ž

We've got nearly a fishout per month scheduled for this year and more possibly in the planning. We're also kicking the tires on a potential saltwater flats trip this summer to the NE Yucatan to chase the above coveted saltwater gamefish and more!

Want to get in on the fun? Sign up as a member online (see our About info ) or join us as a guest at one of our monthly General Meetings.

As PFF celebrates our 48th year as the SF Peninsula’s fly fishing club, we’d like to honor three members whom we've lost recently for their contributions to our club and sport.

Honorary Lifetime Member and past President Les Junge was the club's last surviving founding member going back to 1977. He applied his expertise in food service as he cooked and organized dinners for all attendees at PFF's fundraising dinners. Les loved the outdoors and competitive sport fishing and fished annually in the Florida Keys for tarpon. Until last year, Les worked tirelessly for more than a decade heading up PFF's Trout in the Classroom program through CDFW, cleaning and supplying up to a dozen schools annually with aquariums and trout eggs. He delighted with kids’ fascination as they observed trout eggs hatching and the young trout fry developing.

Mike McGuire was also an Honorary Lifetime Member and past President. He was a brilliant retired physicist who parlayed his acute mind and skills into becoming an ace fly tyer and prolific builder of handmade bamboo rods, many of which he donated annually to PFF fundraising dinners. Mike's other contributions to PFF were endless; besides being president he led numerous club fishouts and taught fly tying and rod building, both of which stemmed from his love for the outdoors and mountain treks for his passion for photography.

Peter Wantuch served enthusiastically as director on the PFF Board of Directors for over a decade and always strove to improve the club for its members. From childhood he was a gifted athlete with elite hand-eye coordination, excelling in archery and then fencing. He was a nationally ranked, top-10 high school fencer and earned athletic scholarships to Ohio State University and the University of Maryland. In his later years, Peter discovered a love for fly fishing, which became a cherished pastime and at which he excelled. Peter passed on his love of the sport through volunteering for PFF and Trout in the Classroom.

We salute these dear friends for their generous contributions and efforts for PFF and raise a glass to their pursuit of excellence and love for families and friends. πŸ₯ƒ

Great times and fishy smiles when PFF members fished the Trinity River for steelhead last week! Hearty thanks and much gratitude to Nor Cal Fly Guides, Confluence Outfitters and Taco Fly Co for guiding our members and showing how it's done.

All methods were in play -- swinging flies with 2-handed spey rods, drifting nymphs under an indicator, and even skating dry flies -- fish were caught them using all! Bonus species catches included brown trout and hatchery coho salmon!

Can't wait until our next trip there!

Fall fishing on Oregon's Middle Rogue River was a bit tough this year but some PFF members persisted and hooked up with the river's legendary summer steelhead last weekend.

Many thanks to James, Kait and the knowledgeable guides at Humble Heron Fly Flshing for giving us ample shots at fish and we look forward to future trips! πŸ™πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ
