The bike path runs the length of Redwood City, parallel to the Alameda between Woodside Rd and Edgewood Rd.

The Fernside segment runs from Massachusetts Ave to Farm Hill Blvd, and the Canyon segment runs from Jefferson Ave to Oak Knoll Dr (at the Emerald Market shopping center). Apart form a short on-road section that connects the two segments at the Jefferson-Farm Hill intersection, the route is completely separated from vehicle traffic.
