As of 3:23 p.m., 6/14/2026, the Washington State Patrol reports Highway 730 in both directions is now open.
As of 3:19 a.m., 6/14/2026, State fire assistance has been mobilized to help local firefighters contain the Highway 730 Fire in Walla Walla County. The grass and brush fire started Saturday, spans 300 acres, and threatens homes and infrastructure, triggering Level 1 and 3 evacuations (no further details on those evacuations were provided by the state). Two wildland strike teams have been deployed as the State Emergency Operations Center coordinates additional resources.
As of 11:17 p.m., 6/13/2026, the Washington State Department of Transportation now reports both directions of State Route 730 is fully blocked due to a collision from the Washington/Oregon border to Wallula Junction (milepost 6). There is no estimated time for the roadway to be cleared. Traffic is advised to use alternate routes.
As of 10:22 p.m., 6/13/2026, Walla Walla County Fire District No. 5 Chief Mike Wickstrom reports one person was transported to a hospital from the rollover collision. As of 9:30 p.m., 6/13/2026, the Washington State Department of Transportation reports both directions of State Route 730 from the Wallula Junction between mileposts 6 to 5 is full blocked due to a collision. There is no estimated time for the roadway to be cleared. Traffic is advised to use alternate routes.
