She’s been with Eastside Dance for about a year now and although she still has moments where she feels awkward, she’s moving with more confidence and having more fun! 🤩

PART 1: THE CULTURE 🔥

Our Hip Hop Summer Intensive was about giving our dancers a deeper understanding of what they were stepping into. We talked about, where hip hop began, why it began, and the culture that continues to shape it today 🧠

We also discussed:

🎶 The music
🎨 The art
👟 The fashion
🗣️ The self-expression
📚 The history

And most importantly, we talked about respect 🙂‍↕️

Hip hop is a culture we’re guests in, and we wanted our dancers to understand what it means to be responsible participants—not just people who learn the movements 🙌

And they really showed up for it! They asked questions, engaged in the conversations, and took it all to heart. ❤️‍🔥

A little glimpse into what went down at our Hip Hop Summer Intensive 👀🔥

Over 5 days, our dancers experienced SO much!
Our goal was to give them an opportunity to experience hip hop authentically, not just through choreography, but through its history, music, movement, style, and culture.
