The Herbalife p/b Marc Pro – Nature’s Bakery Cycling Team Is Back For More In 2017! Team adds promising new riders, increases support from key technical sponsors, and continues on as a USA Cycling Domestic Elite Team in 2017. The team’s three cornerstone sponsors, Herbalife24, Nature’s Bakery, and Marc Pro all return to provide stability and continuity to the team. The 16-rider elite team, racing

under the direction of long-time Bay Area cycling fixture Philip Mooney, will be registered as a USA Cycling Domestic Elite team in 2017. The team will retain nearly all of the talent from their 2016 season, and bolsters the roster with the addition of 3 new riders. Sam Boardman, a senior English major at UCLA, will focus his big engine at national level events and hopes to prove his mettle against the clock in the individual time trial. Oakland’s own Matthew Tracey-Cook, a senior in High School and recent representative of the US at the Junior World Championships, joins the team and hopes to match his results on the mountain bike on the road. Look out for him when the road tilts up! Finally, the well-known and loved Blake Anton brings his considerable racing experience and expertise to the team and will lead us in our push for more international racing. The team also welcomes key new technical sponsors into the h24cycling fold this year. KTM Bike Industries, with their iconic orange frames, will support the team with their top-of-the-line bikes designed in Austria. Rudy Project, the Italian sunglasses and helmet company, will provide their lids and shades to team riders. Finally, Praxis Works will supply the team with their industry leading bottom brackets, cranks, and a few new surprises as the season progresses. Herbalife is excited to continue a successful partnership with the team into the third consecutive year. John Heiss, the Director of Sports and Fitness for Herbalife, underscored the company’s eagerness to partner with one of the nation’s strongest cycling presences, "I greatly enjoy working with elite athletes to help them get the full benefits of our products and succeed in competition. Additionally, the team is a perfect vehicle to help test and refine the Herbalife24 line of sports nutrition products we produce. As an avid cyclist and competitor myself, I’m looking forward to working with, riding with, and being inspired by the team.”

2015 and 2016 have been incredibly successful racing seasons for the team, with a number of notable breakthroughs on the national scene. In 2015, Justin Rossi’s win in the time trial at the Chico Stage Race and narrow 2nd place in the National Time Trial Championships cemented his place as one of the premier athletes in the nation in the race against the clock. In 2016, Tim Rugg’s podium finish in the GC at the Chico Stage Race, his podium in the White Rock Road Race at Canada’s BC Superweek, as well as his multiple stage wins while guest riding at the UCI 2.2 Tour of Rwanda proved he was one of the strongest riders in the nation. Willie Myers’ back to back State Criterium Championships and numerous race wins put him in the crosshairs as the top fast-finisher on the west coast. In 2017, h24cycling hopes to expand on the previous season’s successes by continuing to focusing on elite cycling events all around the world. The preliminary schedule has the team racing across 12 states and 6 countries. Team riders will be racing aboard bright orange KTM Revelator Prestige bikes with a cranks and bottom brackets supplied by northern California’s own Praxis Works, Ritchey Logic cockpits, and rolling on Token wheels show with IRC Tires. They will be wearing Jakroo custom cycling apparel, with helmets and glasses from Rudy Project. Custom BarFly mounts will hold Wahoo ELEMNT cycling computers that will link to Strava and Trainer Road. Marc Pro will continue its singular focus on maximizing the team’s post-exercise recovery. What a win but at the 100 mile Bariani Road Race. After making the selection on the first lap in the blistering crosswinds, read about how the race played out from the man himself:

Alex Akins, winner of the previous day’s crit and the previous year’s Bariani, and one of 4 strong Terun riders in our dwindling breakaway, took an unusually conspicuous pull at mile 69/100 as we turned out of the stiff headwind into 7 straight miles of gusty crosswind. I tucked in on his wheel as he somewhat surprisingly left room for me and a few others to echelon across the road, rather than trying to gutter us out of the angular draft of the feisty breeze. “We gotta pull hard enough to keep Tyler from attacking!” he called out as he flicked me through, referring to Tyler WIliams of Legion, who had consistently attacked at the start of the crosswind section on the prior laps. Thirty seconds later—sensing vulnerability—I lit it up, attacking at the edge of the road and forcing the rest of the group to chase me without the benefit of my draft. I pushed hard without going into the red, but the group didn’t let go. Another big attack, and the pace slowed to recovery level. One more hard jump from the back of the group, timed to make it impossible to cover without a hard acceleration up a 6% grade, and I was clear, quickly building up a one minute gap and allowing myself to think I might have a chance at sticking this one solo. 25 miles of chewing on my stem later (see the last slide), I barely held off a hard charging Williams and Akins to seal the deal as twinges of cramps threatened to lock up my legs.

It was hugely helpful to have teammates and covering moves in the initial breakaway. And I know would have made an impact on the race if he hadn’t flatted immediately after a heroic 45 minute effort to bridge up to us 🥴

Thanks to for the sweet photos!

The squad put in one heck of a ride at the Land Park crit and animated the race to the fullest. We couldn't quite unseat the unstoppable norcal sprint machine this time but still landed on the 3rd step of the podium.

We can not be stopped!

Today was a great day for the team, winning on two continents with taking the win out of a 4 man break with a 1km to go solo attack at the Oakland gran prix and taking stage 2 at the Tour of Tahiti with a solo 10km move out of a very strong breakaway. Ryan also took quite a few jerseys with his ride today, locking down the points jersey, most combative rider jersey, and masters GC jersey.

8 stages to go. https://instagr.am/p/C_9csNsPEnK/

Stage one of the Tour of Tahiti is wrapped. After some crappy luck with traffic at the turnaround for the team time trial, causing the guys to way overshoot the turnaround, we took 3rd on the day and have in the masters jersey and in the most aggressive riders jersey.

It's gonna be a fun week. https://instagr.am/p/C_7FAdQJpL2/
