Wow. There is something going around ... at least here in SoCal there is. And I've had it for four weeks.

It's been challenging to workout to say the least.

If you're in the same boat then you'll like the workouts that go live tomorrow. They are 10-12 minutes long and are so chill that I'm calling them passive and gentle workouts. :) Because when you're sick, that's all you can do. And even then, passive sometimes feels like you just ran a mile.

Even if you aren't sick, but need some gentle workouts to get you back on the fitness wagon, then these are for you. :)

Can anyone relate to these memes? When you're stressed, what or who do you turn to? Food? Wine? TV? Working out?

Anything that will distract you from what's actually needing to be addressed, right?

I COMPLETELY understand. I've had a lot of coping mechanisms in my life. But then I got tired of fighting life, wishing this would change, rehashing the pains, etc.

But here's a thought: instead of tuning out, numbing it, avoiding it, ignoring it, and/or running away from the stressor, address it. Take it to God. Pray about it. Work through it with Him.

Is your mind rehashing a past betrayal? Forgive that person who hurt you, which I know is hard to do, but it's completely and miraculously possible through God's strength. I know because He's done it for me.

Finances weighing heavy? Don't ignore it by binge watching something. Read scriptures that will give you guidance (highly recommend the plans in YouVersion), make a plan and stick to it. I know, because my husband and I have walked through it in faith.

Let go of the anxiety and stress, knowing that God has you in the palm of His hand. (Is. 41:10 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=isaiah+41%3A10&version=NIV )

Get rid of the need to control, because you can't change anyone except yourself and your response (Gal. 6:4-5 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Galatians%206%3A4-5&version=NIV )

It's a journey - but it's well worth it. You just have to change those thought patterns and belief systems.

I've been wrong for 15 years.

15 years!

I've been coaching people that if you follow this formula and eat this way and workout this long and follow this routine, then you will hit those weight loss goals. All of that is fine and good, but this is one CRUCIAL piece that I believe is at the core of health .... and well, ..... life. And this one thing keeps us from being consistent with all of our consistently reaching/maintaining our goals.

Soul peace.

A peace that only comes from full surrender of all our hopes, desires, goals, dreams, hurts, heartaches, expectations, and _____________.

Think of it like this little rat. He is going about his little life, focused on building his little nest (thankfully not in our garage), focused on his next meal, focused on avoiding any predator.

He is so focused on these things, and in this specific instance - eating peanut butter, that he doesn't even realize that he's walked right into a trap.

Matthew 10:28 says, "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell."

I've been unintentionally helping people focus on the wrong thing for 15 years. But God, in His patience, has finally gotten something through my thick skull. Health starts FIRST from the place of complete surrender, rest and peace in Him.

What are you consistent with?

And does it align with your goals/dreams/aspirations?

Seriously. Take a minute or two to evaluate.

In fitness, do you say you want to be healthy, but prioritize other things besides working out and eating nutritious, life giving food?

Financially, do you say you want to be debt free, but prioritize the next gadget/thing/toy over long-term goals?

Spiritually, do you say you want a closer relationship with God, but prioritize sleep and social media?

How about your relationships? Do you say you want to spend more time with ____________, but allow work/screen time/"busyness" to take over that coveted time?

These are questions I'm mulling over. How about you?

Turn that nursing home shuffle into a lovin' life shuffle!

All you have to do is move - take care of those God-given muscles EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Intentionally move.

Yes, I understand there are aches and pains. But the saying is true when it comes to movement: "If you don't use it, you lose it."

I'm not saying that you have to walk a mile, if you right now you just struggle to get out of the house. But I am saying do more than you did yesterday.

And be grateful you can. Because there are many lying in a hospital bed who would love to just be able to stand up.

Maybe some of you feel this way about the gym. You'd rather stay at home in your jammies. And maybe you haven't worked out for .... oh, I don't know .... a long long time.

Well, I have some good news for you!! Starting tomorrow (7/29), a new 7 day Just Getting Back into Fitness Challenge starts! The follow-along workouts are only 10 minutes long and include a warm up and stretch at the end, so you won't be super sore the next day. And in 10 minutes, I highly doubt you break a sweat!

Yes, this is for all those who don't want to workout but know they should.

This is for those who want to get started in being healthier but don't know how to do it safely.

This is for those who don't like to sweat ... or glisten. :)
