August 11-13 still open if ya wanna connect with a few wild rainbows on the Lower Sacramento River, right here in the heart of downtown Redding. These trout are big, bright, and healthy!

Unlike many rivers in the west right now, the Lower Sac, is flowing high (13k) and COLD (low 50’s). This tailwater fishery begins below the massive Shasta Lake… at 3pm I took a water temp and it was 54degrees. Keep in mind It’s been well over 100 degrees air temps in Redding in the afternoons. Cool air effect from the water allows conditions to remain comfortable for anglers while we float the river in drift boats.

Fly fishing has been solid during the prime time windows. Cooler weather in the forecast starting tomorrow. The 10-day looks almost like fall weather is around the corner. 🤞

In a world where Hot Yoga is a thing…. I’m gonna make a case for Hot Fly Fishing. Best workout for the Dog Days of summer.

Sundial Bridge is open and August is a great time to fish the Lower Sac. The wild trout are in great shape right now! How about you? 🤣

All joking aside… despite the over 100 air temps this week in Redding the river is running high & water is COLD around 53 degrees. It has been very pleasant fishing the on the Big River… come see for yourself… it is actually much cooler on the floating on water.

Springer salmon fishing in the Trinity River has been scratchy some days. We’ve been working hard for em’.
These fish are absolutely delicious though… the highest quality river salmon you can enjoy. You cannot prove me wrong.

So, for a fishing guide who still hasn’t been able to get one for himself… yet… I’ll settle for the carcass scraps, all day long!
Not an ounce of these fish go to waste.

Springer Salmon fishing on the Trinity has been a lot of work this July… but we scratch out a few here and there. Afternoon half-pounders can been a day saver - and there are a few steelhead around, too, so we always have the fly rods in the boat.

The drift boat is loaded with all kinds of rods & reels this time of year!!

My Fall River spring-summer season has come to a close. This Gem of a spring creek is hidden away in the northeast corner of Shasta County - a place that time has forgotten (and we wouldn’t have it any other way).

The fly fishing was outstanding in May & June this year. Lots of healthy wild & native rainbow trout of all age classes roam these waters… from Fall River, to the little Tule and Big Tule Rivers on out to Big Lake and the Ahjumawi State Park. Land of the Lost where dinosaur trout roam. See you in the fall…

Absolutely incredible days we have enjoyed while fishing Fall River in the far northeast corner of Shasta County… nice weather, solid bug hatches, quality wild trout and good peeps.

3 generations of Larimer’s enjoying a couple fun days fly fishing for big, wild trout on the Lower Sac right here in Redding, CA.

Summer is here… pmd’s and caddis along w/ yellow sallies are on the menu daily. Rivers at 11.6k and it’s game on during primetime. When the bugs are active, so are the trout. This river will keep you on your toes if you don’t have a finger on the pulse.

Fall River this week… rain, hail, wind, sun, rain, hail, wind, sun… millions of mayflies hatching through it all. Days where the flies unravel and become battle worn… but they still get bit!

Fall River continues to be 🔥 this spring. Solid hatches of bwo and pmd getting stronger each week. Trout are on the slow move throughout the system and Hex time is coming up.
