California's premier ultra distance paddle race! The race was founded and run by Rivers for Change from 2013-2016. It is currently produced by The Sacramento River Preservation Trust. Starting under the Sundial Bridge in Redding, paddlers in all types of vessels paddle 100 miles down the Sacramento River to Chico, CA. This moving water round the clock event is open to all paddle sport enthusiasts
- sea kayaks, open canoes, surfskis, standup paddleboards, prone paddleboards & outrigger canoes. California’s longest river, the Sacramento flows south from Mt. Shasta through Oak woodlands, rolling hills and open plains with views of Mt. Lassen to the East and the Yollo Bolly Wilderness to the west. The wide river bed accommodates reliable flows from 4,000 up to 20,000 cfs and above, yet remains a well mannered giant due to the low gradient. The largest rapids are non-technical class II, though current can be swift. The mild climate, sweeping vistas, easy access points and reliable flow combine to make this a wonderful venue for paddle sport of all sorts, accommodating the experienced marathoner and the first timer as well.
