Emily Sebenicher’s incredible high school golf career came to a close today at the Class 2A Regional Final at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center. Emily started her round in spectacular fashion, playing nearly perfect golf through her first seven holes. As the day went on, tough pin placements and challenging green angulations tested the finest players in the state, and Emily finished the afternoon carding a hard-fought 94.
Emily struck the ball well all day. While the course’s steep challenges cost us a few strokes along the way, she never wavered. She continued to grind until the very last putt dropped, fighting for every single stroke.
I am incredibly proud of Emily’s grit and her ability to fight through adversity, putting together a performance that cements her legacy as one of the best to ever wear the Tiger uniform. By becoming just the fourth golfer in program history to qualify as an individual for the Regional Final—a feat made even more impressive by coming out of Iowa's lowest-scoring, most competitive region in the state—she has firmly secured her name in the Red Oak Golf record books. It is a massive accomplishment, and while her leadership and heart will be greatly missed next season, she leaves the program with her place in history secure.

Emily Sebeniecher Moves On as Tigers Cap Season with Career Days at Regionals

The Tigers put together an unforgettable performance at the Class 2A First Round Regionals in Shenandoah, saving their absolute best golf for the biggest stage. As a team, Red Oak fired a season-low score of 378 to finish in 4th place. While it was bittersweet to see the team just miss out on a qualifying spot for the regional final, going out on a collective high note with so many personal milestones is everything a coach could ask for.

Emily Sebeniecher put her best foot forward to extend her postseason run, leading the way with a career-best round of 83. In dramatic fashion, Emily closed out her day with a spectacular eagle and a clutch par to secure her individual spot to the regional final. Paisley Gettler also chose the perfect day to peak, carding a personal-best 92 and narrowly missing out on an individual spot to the regional final. Seeing how much Paisley has grown, I am incredibly excited to see what the next two years will bring out of such a determined player—she is right on the brink of being a name to know in our area.

Another major highlight of the day belonged to Nellie Blaine, who broke into the 90s for the first time in her career by parring her final hole to finish with a personal-best 99. Ellison Johnson kept things steady with a 104, while up-and-coming freshman Jerzey Edie shot a promising 107, and Mylee Johnson rounded out the lineup with a competitive 112.

While the team's season comes to an official close, the journey isn't over yet. Emily Sebenicher will continue her push for the state tournament this coming Wednesday at the Regional Final at Lincoln Valley Golf Course in State Center, IA.

Finally, I want to say a massive thank you to our seniors. Emily, Nellie, and Ellison have poured so much into this team over the last four years. They are going to be dearly missed, but the legacy they leave behind has established Red Oak Golf as a program to recognize.

The Tigers traveled to the Hawkeye Ten Conference Tournament for their final time before switching to the WIC conference. The ladies finished in 7th place with a team score of 401. Against a consistently "stacked" conference field, the girls held their own and showcased the grit that has defined their 25-20 regular season record.
Emily Sebenicher capped off her conference career in style, leading the Tigers with a round of 92. Her performance earned her 10th place overall and a well-deserved spot on the All-Conference Second Team. Joining her in the top half of the leaderboard was Ellison Johnson, who put together a very strong showing with a 97. Paisley Gettler and Nellie Blaine remained competitive in the middle of the pack, carding a 105 and 106 respectively, while Mylee Johnson (118) and Ella Blackman (121) rounded out the varsity effort.
With the conference tournament in the books, the regular season officially comes to a close. The Tigers now shift their full focus toward postseason play. We will spend the week fine-tuning our game as we prepare to head to Shenandoah this Friday for the first round of IGHSAU Regionals. It’s time to take everything we’ve learned this season and leave it all on the course!

Tigers’ Top Duo Stays Steady While Freshmen Find Their Rhythm at a Very Competitive Betty Hefflin Tournament
Against a massive field of 13 teams and 77 individual golfers, the Tigers put together a resilient performance at the Betty Heflin Invitational in Atlantic. We finished the day in 8th place with a team score of 393, a solid result considering the level of competition we faced across the board.
Emily Sebenicher led our charge with a round of 90, navigating the course well enough to place 11th overall. It’s never easy to finish in the top tier of a 77-player field, but Emily continues to show she belongs amongst the best. Paisley Gettler also turned in a strong performance with a 94, continuing her streak of consistent, high-level play.
The highlight of the day was seeing our lineup show real depth within the younger classmen. Both Mylee Johnson and Jerzey Edie rose to the occasion by carding 105s, marking new personal records for both girls within their freshman year. Nellie Blaine stayed right in the hunt with a 104, while Ellison Johnson rounded out the varsity effort with a 106.
The Tigers will have a little time to rest and practice before heading into our final Hawkeye Ten Conference Tournament this Monday. The girls are playing with confidence, and we’re looking to carry these recent PRs into the conference finale on a high note.

Tigers Surge in Atlantic; Sebenicher and Gettler Lead the Way

The Tigers showed up in a big way on Thursday, putting together one of their most complete performances of the season in a highly competitive quad meet at Atlantic. Red Oak posted a team score of 194, narrowly edging out host Atlantic (195) and Lewis Central (220), while finishing just six strokes behind a strong Shenandoah squad (189).
Emily Sebenicher continued her stellar campaign, firing a 42 to secure runner-up medalist honors. Hot on her heels was Paisley Gettler, who carded a 45 to set a new personal record. Paisley is finding her rhythm at the most pivotal time of the season. The varsity scorecard was reinforced by consistent efforts from Ellison Johnson (52), Nellie Blaine (55), Mylee Johnson (57), and Jerzey Edie (58).
The success extended to the Junior Varsity ranks, where Adrianna Valdez broke a major milestone by shooting a personal-best 59 to lead the squad. The JV scorecard was rounded out by Ella Blackman (65), Aubrey Bass (66), and a pair of 72s from Josie Sampson and Corrine Hopf. With personal records falling and the team consistently shaving strokes off their total, the Tigers are building momentum into the final stretch of the season. The Tigers will be back on the course Tuesday to play in a very competitive Betty Hefflin 18 hole tournament.

Tigers Brave the Elements for Senior Night Finale; Gettler Cards Career Best

It was a cold, rainy evening for our final home stand, but not even the weather could dampen the spirits of Senior Night. We saved the best for last, holding our senior recognition ceremony at the conclusion of the meet to celebrate the student-athletes and parents who have been the backbone of this program for the last four years, Thank You! To my seniors: what a ride. We have Ellison Johnson, the team’s resident prankster. She’s spent four years making sure I never get too comfortable with her constant jokes and antics—and while I’ll jokingly tell her I won't miss the headaches, the course is going to feel a lot quieter without her. Then there’s Emily Sebenicher, our "quiet workhorse." Emily is the thinker of the group; she’s the one who always wants to know the "why" behind every ball flight, and that analytical mind has made her a powerhouse on the links. We also honored Nellie Blaine, my one-and-only ski bunny and golfing buddy, and Jayda Edie, whose season was sadly cut short by a medical situation.

On the course, the Tigers battled difficult elements to finish with a team score of 212. Red Oak finished just three strokes behind Clarinda (209) and well ahead of Creston (226). Paisley Gettler led the varsity squad, navigating the tough conditions to card a new personal record of 47. She was followed by Emily Sebenicher, who finished with a 50. Other varsity scores included Nellie Blaine (57), Ellison Johnson (58), and Mylee Johnson (60), while Jerzey Edie made a successful varsity debut by also finishing with a 60.

The JV team put together a dominant showing, sweeping the top individual honors for the night. Josie Sampson earned the top medalist spot with a 66, while Aubrey Bass secured the runner-up medalist position with a 72. The JV scorecard was completed by Corrine Hopf (74), Ella Blackman (76), and Adrianna Valdez (77). The girls now have exactly one day to recover and practice before heading to Atlantic this Thursday. We will be facing off against the top teams in the conference, providing a great opportunity to test our squad against some of the strongest competition in the confrence, before post season play.
