🚨 BIG NEWS FOR NFA OWNERS! 🚨
A major federal court ruling has just changed the landscape for certain NFA fi****ms.
On August 5, 2026, a federal judge ruled that the NFA’s federal registration and approval requirements for suppressors, short-barreled rifles (SBRs), and short-barreled shotguns (SBSs) are unconstitutional in light of Congress reducing the applicable NFA tax to $0.
That court order took effect August 13.
🔥 What does this mean?
The $200 NFA tax was already reduced to $0 beginning January 1, 2026. The recent ruling goes further by striking down certain federal NFA registration and approval requirements covered by the order.
⚠️ BUT — don’t assume every NFA item can simply be purchased over the counter yet. State laws still apply, the ruling has a limited scope, and ATF guidance for dealers is still developing.
