She’s had it pretty easy up to this point. Told myself it was time for her to get her boots dirty and work for one. Left the truck in the dark put on a few miles and glassed a lot. Spotted this buck across a small canyon and she got eyes on him and she knew it was game time. All the rounds down range shes been shooting over the years and a lot the past month in preparation was about to pay off big time. She got her rifle set up and got ready and asked “dad how far” I said “340 yards” without hesitation she got lined up for her shot. (She knows her rifle very very well she know where it shoots and I’m 100% confident with her shooting a buck that far)
What felt like 20 mins I waited for her to shoot and finally the shot rang out and the report of the impact of her 127gr bullet finding it’s mark echoed back to us. As I watched the buck take a few steps and tipped over. I told her it was down. She started shaking like a leaf and more than a few tears were shed. We sat there for 15 mins just watching making sure all was good before making our way over to him. We took everything slow and she helped every bit of the way. Loaded the packs and off we went. Her best buck yet!
