Dear Friends of NSB,
After 55 years of continuous service to our community, the Northeast School of Ballet has made the difficult decision to enter a hiatus following the completion of our Summer 2026 programs.
This decision was not made lightly. It has been the most difficult decision we have ever had to make.
For more than five decades, NSB has provided exceptional dance education, performance opportunities, scholarships, and artistic experiences to thousands of students and families. We are incredibly proud of the legacy established by our founder, Sandra McNaught, and Artistic Director, Denise Cecere, as well as the generations of dancers, faculty, volunteers, and supporters who have helped shape our history.
In recent years, ongoing building challenges, rising operating costs, reduced funding opportunities, and increasing financial pressures have made it increasingly difficult to sustain our programs at the level our students and audience deserve. After careful consideration and many thoughtful conversations about the future of the organization, we have determined that a period of pause is necessary to allow us to regroup, evaluate opportunities, complete critical renovations, and explore the best path forward.
Although our regular school-year programming and performance season will be on hiatus during the 2026–2027 season, our commitment to the dance community remains unwavering. Once renovations to our historic home are complete, we look forward to offering open classes, workshops, private coaching, and intensives as we begin rebuilding for the future. To our students, families, alumni, faculty, volunteers, donors, and friends, THANK YOU! Your support, dedication, and belief in our mission have made the past 55 years possible.
As we enter this pause, we remain hopeful for what lies ahead. This is not the end of our story, but rather an intermission as we work to preserve our historic home, strengthen our foundation, and prepare for the future.
Thank you for being part of our journey. We are deeply grateful for the memories, achievements, friendships, and generations of dancers who will forever be part of the Northeast School of Ballet’s Legacy.
