A post for our new Ice Hockey Director, Alexis Bohlinger! Lexi joins us this summer with 15 years of coaching experience and a career-long dedication to girls and women’s hockey. Currently the Head Coach at Lawrence Technological University and Grosse Pointe South High School in Michigan, Lexi has spent over a decade working with players at every level—from 10U through the collegiate ranks.
Her experience extends well beyond the bench; she played NCAA DIII hockey as a defenseman at Saint Mary’s University in Minnesota. She is a USA Hockey Level 5 coach and serves as a Coach Developer for USA Hockey, helping to train the next generation of coaches. Lexi has also been involved in both the MAHA District camps and USA Hockey National camps, where she coached and evaluated some of the top talent in the country. Recently, she was named the 2023–24 Michigan Girls High School Coach of the Year after leading Grosse Pointe South to back-to-back state titles.
Lexi’s perspective is shaped by the fact that she is still an active player herself. She continues to play competitively on both women’s and men’s teams, ensuring she stays connected to the speed and flow of the modern game. This “player-first” mindset drives her coaching philosophy: she focuses on the fundamentals but moves away from rigid positions, teaching hockey as a fluid game to help girls become versatile, high-IQ players.
When she isn’t at the rink, Lexi is usually outdoors hanging out with her three dogs, dirt biking, or out on the boat. She is looking forward to helping the campers build their confidence and making sure they head home having had a great summer of hockey. Let’s Goooo!! 🏒🥅
