Deer Stories Every Deer has a Story. I've collected and established the Ohio Whitetail Hall of Fame and wanted to share the stories I've been told. "Every Deer has a Story."

I try to make sure the stories are accurate, but you know how some stories go when they are passed down - Mark Meeker I have been in the Outdoor Industry for almost 20 years and was the Executive Director of the National Whitetail Deer Education Foundation for 15+ years. I've collected and established the Ohio Whitetail Hall of Fame over the years and heard so many stories of giant deer from Ohio

and across the Country. Every deer has a story behind it and some of my favorite stories come from deer that aren't even records. These stories come from the people who harvested the deer, magazines like North American Whitetail and Rack magazine, friends, people I've met, and social media pages like Exodus Outdoor Gear. This is not a historical page, and the stories told are "stories". I try to make sure that everything is as accurate as possible, but you know "stories" go sometimes when they are passed told and passed down.

Chester Veach harvested Ohio’s record non-typical buck with a shotgun back in 1971 on his 1st ever deer hunting trip in Pike County, Ohio. It is still currently the 5th largest deer ever recorded in Ohio.

The Hole in the Horn is one of the most famous deer in history. There is still controversy about the deer’s true score is and how the hole was made in his antler. Also, was it true that this buck was hit by a train? This is one of my favorite stories because this deer hung in a bar in Ravenna for 40 years before the world knew about it. Is this the most famous deer in history????

The CJ Alexander buck was illegally havested back in November of 2023. This buck is one of the largest typical bucks ever in Ohio. Unfortunatly CJ poached the deer and his story was all a lie. But the deer is absolutly huge and hopefully people can still respect the deer and not just think about CJ.

Jim Cogar took this buck the very last day of season on Feburary 3, 2013. I actually saw a trail camera picture of it the month before from a mutual friend of Jim's and mine. It's one of my favorite deer and is as impressive in person as it is in pictures.
