Why We Celebrate Independence Day
Independence Day, celebrated on July 4th, marks the anniversary of adopting the Declaration of Independence in 1776. On this historic day, the thirteen American colonies declared their freedom from British rule. The Declaration, drafted by Thomas Jefferson, articulated the colonies' reasons for seeking independence, emphasizing the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Independence Day is more than just a celebration of a historical event; it symbolizes the birth of a nation founded on the principles of democracy and freedom. It's a time for Americans to come together, reflect on their shared values, and appreciate the liberties that define the United States.
