Friday night was another frustrating one for the 24M, but racing has a way of testing you before it rewards you.

Hot laps started with the car breaking up badly. We got off the track quickly, added fuel, and were able to jump back out at the tail end of the second group. Just like that, the issue disappeared and we thought we had it figured out.

Then came the heat race.

Starting on the pole, the car died in staging and wouldn’t refire. We got push-started, but once it fired the engine fell flat on its face. Instead of racing, we found ourselves spectating from the infield…again this season. It’s a great view, but it’s definitely not where we want to be.

Before the feature, we went to work. We found the ignition switch clip on the starter had worked loose and fallen off. We tightened the terminal and secured everything with electrical tape. The car still wouldn’t stay running, so we swapped the ignition module in the distributor and it fired back up.

Starting from the tail of the feature, the engine was still breaking up under load in the middle of the corners. We made the decision to run one lap and pull off while we could still diagnose the problem instead of risking more damage.

This week, we’re throwing everything we’ve got at it. Every wire, every connection, every component is getting checked. We’re determined to find the root cause and put this electrical gremlin behind us.

The one thing we’re never short on is determination. As a family, we’ve always solved the tough problems together. Our notebook has grown from years of fixing issues just like this, and now it’s time to cross the t’s, dot the i’s, and get this race car back where it belongs.

We can’t thank our fans, sponsors, friends, and family enough for sticking behind us through the highs and the lows. Your support means everything, and we promise we’ll keep digging until the 24M is back doing what it was built to do.

Sometimes racing is about trophies. Sometimes it’s about perseverance.

We’ll be back.

It’s been one of those “race car owner” days where the toolbox got opened before breakfast and nobody sat down until dark. Uncle Jeff was hard at work this morning cutting, grinding, and making sparks fly after a parts run, and we finally got the car loaded back up and hauled over to the hot rod shop at Russ Harris Motorsports to finish up the upper rear clip and start digging into the electrical gremlins.

The funny part? The car actually had speed right out of the gate Friday night… the weak link was sitting behind the wheel. Driver was a little rusty.

Then the night turned into a full-blown circus.

Heat race time comes around — no starter. Got push started and the engine ran fine in the pits, but the second we hit the track it shut itself off like it had somewhere else to be. Borrowed a starter for the feature, got fired up, and honestly we were holding our own pretty decent considering the chaos… until turn 1 decided violence was the answer and we got tangled up with another car.

That’s racing. Sometimes you unload like heroes and reload like a scrapyard.

Huge thanks to everyone who jumped in to help get this thing headed back in the right direction. We’ve got a lot of work ahead, but this team doesn’t quit.

Make sure to check out our YouTube channel for the in-car footage from the night. You’ll get the full experience — the good, the bad, and the “well that escalated quickly” moments.

Although the car is back together we are finding issues. Times hot laps went fine and things looked promising. Driver got in the car for heats and starter wasn’t working at all. Got a push start and the car died before the green. We borrowed a starter and are hopeful that we will make it through the feature and can deep dive into all the electrical after tonight.

Thanks again to everyone who keeps the 24M showing up weekly

Definitely not the way we wanted the night to end.

The car caught fire in the heat race and I honestly had no idea at first. They radioed me to head for the infield and that’s when I finally saw flames and shut the car down.

There’s a lot of melted parts on the grandstand side of the engine compartment. Right now we believe something in the fuel system let go on the pressure side and ignited off the headers.

One thing that absolutely helped was getting the hood opened quickly once I got out of the car so the safety crew could get right on what was left of the fire.

Our class does run fire suppression systems and thankfully the flames never reached the pop off valves inside the cockpit. The firewall tins and motor plate did their job and kept the fire out of the driver compartment for the most part.

It’s a tough hit for the team but it could have been a whole lot worse.

We’ll get it apart, figure out exactly what failed, and start putting it back together.

Huge thank you to the Ransomville Volunteer Fire company for being on hand every Friday night. Also huge thanks to all of our sponsors, partners, and fans that continue to support us every week.

Week 3 with some promising results mixed in with some weird happenings.

We scaled the car right before loading up. Got to the track, unloaded, and somehow the car was sitting sideways way down on the right side. No idea what caused it but we got it leveled back out and ready to race.

Ended up 3rd fastest overall in Sportsman hot laps which definitely gave us some confidence.

We rolled off P2 in the heat and honestly swung a little too hard at our changes from hot laps. Started fading back before we caught an absolute clay cannonball to the grill. Crushed the front V and rattled the hood and tins around so hard it shoved the firewall tin into my throttle linkage. Can’t race at half throttle so we retired from the heat.

Started out back in the feature and stayed out back most of the race because we just couldn’t put the power down.

Even with the results, the car honestly worked and felt really good all night. We’re getting closer.

We’ll be back in the shop going over everything this week and hopefully getting some new shoes for next Friday.

As always thank you to all of our sponsors, partners, and fans for sticking behind us every week.
